BOARDMAN – Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home for George Vrancic, 83, who passed away Saturday morning at his home with his family at his side.
George was born Aug. 5, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of Potar and Anna Grom Vrancic.
He was a 1944 graduate of Poland, Ohio Seminary High School.
George worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube in the Rod and Wire Mill, retiring in 1984. He then worked as a garage foreman for the City of Youngstown, Division of Water.
He was a former member of the Indianola United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Christ Methodist Church of Youngstown, past president of AFSCME Union Local 558, and a life member of Disabled American Veterans.
He loved to go hunting with his sons, vacationing in Canada, and summer barbecues with his family. He was a lifelong Cleveland Indian Fan. George served his country during World War II in the Navy.
His wife, the former Betty Pee, whom he married May 7, 1948, died Feb. 12, 1999.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Diane L. (Timothy) McCarty of Boardman, Ohio; three sons, David G. (Lynda) Vrancic of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Dean S. (Tammy) Vrancic of Youngstown and Dale S. Vrancic of Boardman; a sister, Margaret Byce of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Lucy Georgina, Amanda, Andrew, Alex, Aaron and Jason; and several nieces and nephews
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Petrunich and a brother, John Vrancic.
George’s family wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley for their love and compassion given to him.
