Bastin - SW, Ohio - *Possible* French lineage

Hello!

Searching for relatives of Robert V. Bastin. Born in Lockland, Ohio in the last 1920's. My Great Grandmother refers to his home as the "homestead" so I'm guessing his family lived in Lockland before his birth. Died in 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a Police officer and died in the line of duty. I only know of his siblings. Roxanne, Mary, Bennie, and Lillian. None of my relatives seem to know his parents names so I am just stuck.

Have always heard that we had French ancestry on his side of the family but this could be wrong.

searching for information on Simon M. Bastin and Elizabeth Hedding(s) who were married April 6, 1854 in Zion Evangelical lutheran Church, Sunbury, Northumberland Co., Pa.

Simon's father was Jesse Bastin of Sunbury. Elizabeth's may have been David Hedding(s).

I am especially interested in Elizabeth as my ggg grandfather had a sister by that name. If same Elizabeth, her birth year would be 1824, and her parents may have been David Hedding and Deborah Terry.

I recently received an affadavit signed by this gentleman on August 31, 1886. This was part of a Civil War pension file for our great-grandfather, John Routon,Jr., also of Lincoln Co. Samuel Bastin is attesting to the disability of John Routon, who is at the time applying for a government pension. I would be glad to share this document with any interested descendants.
