Our line of Basting were Hungarian sailed to America and settled in Chicago along with other Hungarian families in the 1920's...
Johanne Basting was my husbands Grandfathers name.

Hi Lori, many thanks for your response! I would really appreciate it, thank you. xx At present I can trace my Baysting line back to early 1800's but it has not been easy!! There is a possibility therefore that prior to that there may be a name variation. Take care and good luck with your investigations! x

Hello, I'm a Baysting and have drawn a total blank in my quest for knowledge about my family name! I suspect I will never find information about my surname but I was hoping that one of the Bastings who have been in touch via this message board may be able to shed a little light on the possibility of the variance of the name, or even know a Baysting! My Baystings (i.e. father, grandfather and g.grandfather are from South London.
