Our line of Basting were Hungarian sailed to America and settled in Chicago along with other Hungarian families in the 1920's...
Johanne Basting was my husbands Grandfathers name.

Hello, I'm a Baysting and have drawn a total blank in my quest for knowledge about my family name! I suspect I will never find information about my surname but I was hoping that one of the Bastings who have been in touch via this message board may be able to shed a little light on the possibility of the variance of the name, or even know a Baysting! My Baystings (i.e. father, grandfather and g.grandfather are from South London.

I am still looking for anyone with info on Hungarian born BASTING family/families in Chicago Area in the early 1900's. Our family arrived in Chicago in 1912.
