Alvina Bata is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph R. Bata Sr., who homesteaded in Elgin Township seven miles northwest of Langdon when they came fra Liota, Czechoslovakia 25 March 1894.
Alvina stills owns her birthplace, which has been in the Bata name for 91 years. She supervised the farm operations for 33 years and was also a businesswoman.
Alvina, who lives in her own home in Langdon, spent 27 winters in California bsides traveling in Europe, Hawaii, other islands and in Canada.
Her grandnephew, Brad Bata, has been farming her land for 14 years. With his wife, the former Yvonne Florence, and their two children: Brian Michael and Bridget, he lives in Langdon.--recorded 3/85
