I think we are probably related because we have a cousin Roxanne Batch who lives out here in Callifornia not far from me and her side of the family is your side of the family. I am just printing lots of stuff that I have recently discovered.

Since there were a multitude of Stephen Batchs in the family it would seem that was a popular name. My great-grandfather was Stephen Bryant Batch who was a prominent barber in Monangahela. Roxanne recently visited Monongahela Cemetary and took pictures of my great grandparents gravestones. Send me an e-mail and we can compare notes. Charlie Batch (quarterback for Steelers) is also related and his father Charles and step mother Ellen live out here in California also. My e-mail address is Hawaiibound91505@netscape.net

A cousin

I haven't been able to find any information on this family except for these census records.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much and may God bless you for your help.

I have copies of my grandfather's marriage certificate. His name was Barcigalupia on it. Also, some of his children (the oldest ones) were born with the name Barcigalupia, and the younger ones were born with the name Batch. My mother was a Batch but I have uncles whose names are Barcigalupia, and aunts whose maiden names are Barcigalupia. My aunt who started the Batch geneology discovered that in the tax rolls and censuses that the name Batch and Barcigalupia were used back and forth. In 1900, most of the family were using the Batch name, but not all. My aunt found some Barcigalupias in Chicago. This was a long time ago. All of my Barcigalupia uncles have died since then.

Yes!! My husband is Tom. Unfortunately, Ed passed away in January of 1999. Bobbie and Bruce are the only children still living. I have Gene's SS-5. He listed Mollie Morgan as his mother's maiden name. I would love to have more info on the family. You are the first contact I have found. Gene told the family very little. Ed didn't even know his grandparents names. Thanks. Hope to hear more soon. Email:tlbatch@nwi.net

My great grandfather was Simon Peter Batch. He had a son named Gene W. by his second wife, whose name I have as Mary M. (this could be wrong)
This Gene married Vivian Smith at Wynnwood, Oklahoma, and had a son named Edward who was born around 1924.
Our records show that Edward lives at Manson, Washington. Edward spoke to my aunt on the phone and sent her pictures of Uncle Gene, Edward, Jerald, Bobbie and Bruce.
Edward had a son named Tom.

Please let me know if these are the same people. I have more info about Simon Peter and his father and decendants.

Hi, Connie

I am also looking for more information about the Batch relatives. My grandfather James Edger (Skip) Batch was also a barber in Bridgeville. His father name was Stephen Batch. I don't know much about him just that he was married to Bessie Griffith they had two children James Edger and Olive. My grandfather had 3 children James Arthur (my father), William Alexander (they were twins) and a dauther Joan Romain. As soon as I get more information about Stephen I will forward it on to you.

Keep in touch

Roxanne

Re: More Batch Questions

Hi Connie,

My name is Donna Claiborne. My father is a Batch. He was born in Monaghela, PA.and lived on Coal Street. His name is Kenneth Batch. He is 81 years old. His father's name was Harry. His Mom was Ethel. Her maiden name was Hilton. She had a lot of sisters. My Dad had three brothers and a sister.
One is a Priest in California- Tom. Howard is a WWII vet now living in Ohio- war injury, his sister died before he was born, and his last brother Joe died in the early nineties. My father grew up in Pittsburgh. We used to visit before my grandmother died. I haven't been back since the 60's. I have seven brothers and sisters.

I'm sure we are probably related because we have relatives in Elizabeth, PA too. I'd love to keep in touch and find out more about the family. My father hasn't talked to relatives in years. I'm sure we are related to Charlie Batch. He seems to hate the fact that he is a Batch. We met him briefly after an Eagles game and I found him to be really rude!!! He says he has no interest in that part of his family. Oh well, that's his loss, I think we are rather interesting.

My home e-mail address is d.claiborne@worldnet.att.net.
Hope to hear from you.

Donna

I saw your post and wanted to get in touch with you. I am descended from Stephen Batch, and his son, Stephen B. Batch. Stephen B. Batch had a brother named James. On the 1860 census sheet I have a copy of his middle initial is listed as James W. and my cousin who sent me a lot of information is his descendant. Don't know if your Batch is related to mine and if they are just how. James was a barber in Elizabeth PA and Stephen B. was a barber in Monongahela. I have a newspaper article from the Elizabeth newspaper which says he was married in 1875 to miss Alice J. Bell of Homestead PA. They had four children.

These James' may not be the same but I would bet that we are distant cousins somewhere along the line.

I think Charlie Batch, quarterback of the Detroit Lions is also in our lineage somehow.

Hope this information helps you. I have lots more if you would like me to share it with you.

Don't know if we are related but the info I have is my great grandfather's brother was James William Batch. Apparently he was a barber in Elizabeth PA. I have an article written by him I believe by the Elizabeth Newspaper. There still seem to be a lot of Batches in that area. Charlie Batch, quarterback of the Detroit Lions is some way related to me. I took his picture off the internet and he is almost a twin of my son. My family is also connected to the Bryant, Catlin families.
