GIRARD, Ohio – Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown, Ohio for Erma Batcha, 85, formerly of Powers Avenue, who died Thursday morning, January 17, 2008 at Meridian Arms Care Center.

Erma was born Jan. 8, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a daughter of Rocco and Teresa Frasco Popio.

She was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as a medical technician.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (David) Collins of Clearlake, California; a son, Fred (Tina) Batcha of Youngstown, OH; three grandchildren, Jeff Flickinger, Chet Flickinger and Maria Gray; and a great-granddaughter, Christina Gray, all of Youngstown; nieces, Rae (George) Babos, Isabel (Bob) Pupino and Theresa Marks; several great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward G. Batcha, whom she married May 4, 1946, and who died Feb. 12, 1993; a son, Joseph Batcha; four sisters, Mafalda Ludt, Mary Giba, Italia (Lee) Sabino and Frances DiAntonio; and two brothers, Joseph Popio and Ralph Popio.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Schiavone Funeral Home.
