He was a widower when he married Lucy Merritt in England 1816
They had 2 offspring James Norris and John Norris Batey

He died in 1866 in England

Mariah Lou Franklin is a great-grand-aunt of mine and I'm trying to find more descendants of her. She married a William Batey in Illinois in the mid-1800's.

Don't know if this is "our" William H's father perhaps.

William A. would have been born in 1833--it's possible that this might have actually been William H., but there's no proof.

I am trying to do some geneological research on my grandmother's side of the family. Her maiden name was Batey. Her name was Addie Faye Batey. Her father's name was Steve or Steven William Batey. My grandmother was born July 16, 1918. She had sisters named Addie Belle(not sure of the spelling), Elsie, Dorothy and brothers JC and Johnny. I believe Johnny died at an early age. Dorothy is the youngest of the sisters. There could be more children. I am not really sure. My great grandfather Steve was in his 90's when he died in the 70's. If any one can help me get started, I would greatly appreciate it. Oh...as far as I know, these Batey's were in Texas.

My grandmother married Elzie Lee Casey and they had six children. Billy Wayne, Delores Faye, Steve William, Jerri Marie, Sherry Pat and Robert Dale. She then divorced Elzie Lee and married Bill Wood. She gave birth to Vickie Sue and the Anita Faye.

I’m interested in gathering information on my Great Grandfathers Family. My Great Grandfather John William Batey (Coal Miner- later Manager of Emma Pit) Born 1886 of 10 Wesley Terrace Prudhoe. His Father Robert Batey who was also a Coal Miner (not sure of birth date or marriage details).

I have a "Birthday book" that may have belonged to my maternal great grandmother. There were two main families in the book whose trees I have managed to put together with the help of Familysearch. Mary Forster married William Parnaby and of their four daughters, Ann Parnaby b.1832 in Co.Durham, married John Batey b.1826, and Mary Parnaby, her sister, married Thomas Batey b.1828, very probably two brothers but I am not altogether sure which children belonged to which couple. I'd guess that Ann and John had James Batey b.1852 and Mary Elizabeth b.1854, but Jane Ann Batey could be either couple's child.

Can anyone relate to these families. I am just intrigued to know why this book should have ended up in our family.

My 2xGreatgrand father William Batey born c1840 at Houghton, Cumberland his father's name was William, (mother's name unknown).
William the son came to live in Gateshead Co Durham working then as a joiner. He married Mary Scaife on February 26th 1866. He was already a widower at the age of 26 years (first wifes name not known)
He died in Gateshead in 1875 aged 35 years, any info on any of these names would be very good.

Is anyone decended from (or researching) Daniel George Batey of Deptford, England? He and his family came to the US (I think through Canada) into Maine. In Bangor, Maine, two sons were born to wife Margaret (Parker) Batey. The first, Henry Greer, was born in Feb 1894 - from whom I am decended. The second was John W. about a year later.

I have more information on the line, and would like to hear from anyone who could fill in the blanks and that I could share information with. Most of the people I know about moved to the Chicago area.

I have a Joseph Batey born in the mid 1700's (I don't know where yet) he married a Mary Smith I believe and had at least 4 children I know of: Nathaniel, William D., Thomas W., and Susanna.
Then my Nathaniel (josephs son)married Nancy Smith and had many children in the Rutherford County, TN area. Their names:
Francis, Martha, Louisa, Margaret, Archibald, Joseph, Leroy M., John S. and Tabitha E.

If anyone has ANY connections to these Batey's I would surely love to connect with you.

I know that Nathaniel married Nancy Smith in Rutherford County, TN in 1839. But am not sure if Nathaniel was BORN in Rutherford County, TN. I don't know where his father Joseph was born.

My maiden name was Batey. My father, Arthur Lee Batey was born on Nov. 26, 1902 in Coburg, IA. He died Nov. of 1974. His father was William Riley Batey, and his mother was Grace (Tracy) Elizabeth Collier. He spent the yrs. of 1945 to 1972 in Omaha, NE. He and my mother moved to Little Sioux, IA in 1972. I was the only child from that marriage. Dad had been married to at least two other women prior to my mother. He had a son named Arthur Jr., another son named Jess, and supposedly a daughter named Grace. I grew up in Lyons, NE but my father commutted to and from Omaha until my mother and I moved there in 1959.
