Batista Family Origins from Dominican Republic

Trying to find the Portuguese origins of Dominican Batista - not the new decendents of the Cuban Batista who landed there in 1959, but the ones that were there before him. Both are probably related and that's why he came back to find his family, but I'm trying to find the original link. Any clues and help would be great!
