My Husband Kevin Carl Cuevas is also the gggg grandson of Juan Jose Francois de Cuevas and I am trying to do a geneology for my 8 grandchildren for Christmas. I would appreciate and information you might have on Martin Lopez de Cuevas ancestors as I have found that there was a Juan Cuevas on the Santa Maria with Christopher Columbus and I am trying to make a connection there. Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me get any information on Angel Batista. I dont have much information on him, but this is what I have. He lives in the La Torre, Dominican Republic (near Santiago, and La Vega). He is currently in his 80s. He is my grandfather and I was trying to figure out where my last name comes from. I feel lost not knowing. Any help is welcomed and I'm highly thankful for it!

I am a pastor of a little pentecostal church, and a lawyer in Puerto Rico. My phne is 787-616-6677. In my family we have two pastors, two veterans (Army and Navy), and my sister is a teacher.

My father Ariel Morales was born in 1928, his father was Juan Batista, his mother Ricarda Morales, from Yauco.

I would like to know about my Batista family. I feel they are special, as my Morales family is. Please, help me find my fathers family. I feel I owe this to my father. He died in 1991. Thanks, and may God bless you.

Hello my name is Eric Baptiste. My grand father was John Baptista Born in New Bedford MA 1935, my Gr.Grandfather was Manuel Baptista born in Madelena Pico acores 1902, my great great grandfather was Joao Batista of Madelena , not sure of the birth year.
Its been a confusing search as the name has dropped and gained letters over the years. The oldest name I have is the Joao Batista of Madelena. Any one share the same surname or know of any history, it would be greatly appreciated. I have Goverment documents verifying the names above, so I know I have the correct names. I am also a Batista. First generation born here in the usa. both sides of my family originate from Sabana Iglesia, Santiago, Dominican Republic. My Grandmother is a living text book when it comes to family information both closely related and far.lol I would love more information. I imagine he was a 3rd-4th gen dominican. My guess is orinally from Spain. Any information will be greatly appreciated. thanks

My cousin in Puerto Rico is named Mariano, my parents are Juan Batista from Puerto Nuevo and Daniela Vargas from Rio Piedras. I was born in NYC. I believe my grandfather on my mother's side was name Francisco.

I'm glad that you responded. it's good to hear from someone who is related no matter how distant.
Juan DeCuevas was my ggggg grandfather. it's always interesting to learn more about our heritage.thanks for the information. I'm still interested in learning more about the Batista's. if i come across anything at all i will post it on this message board.
I used to live in Biloxi, Ms. i'm planning to go back there when possible to do some digging on some other relatives.the last time i went to biloxi i didn't have the time. so i will have to make a special trip just for that purpose.

Evelyn, Juan De Cuevas was my GGGG Grandfather. He was born March 16, 1762 in Adalusia, Spain, he married Marie Helene Christian Ladner in about 1794, probably in Harrison Co., Missisippi, and died September 24, 1849 (headstone markings) on Cat Island, Harrison Co., Mississippi. Juan was buried in Biloxi Cemetery, Biloxi, Harrison Co., MS. According to baptismal records in 1798 and 1801 for three of his children, Juan's parent's names were listed as Pedro de Cuevas and Ysabel (Ysavel) Batista (Bautista). I have seen reported that Pedro was born 1736 in Spain, and was the son of Martin Lopez de Cuevas and Ysave Batista. This is as far as I've gotten, and I'd love to discover more info on the Batista line as well. Jeanne

I am trying to locate information on Bernardo (Urbano) Batista. He had moved to Cuba from Spain or Canary Islands. He married Guillermina Hernandez and had two children, Gregorio Batista and Maria Batista. Gregorio was born on 5/25/04 and died 8/79 in Miami Fl. He had married Antonia Abreu and had nine children.
Oreste (my grandfather), Guillermina, Rolando, Ledi (died at an early age), Luis, Francisco, Maria, Antonio and Miriam. I could really use some help trying to find out who is missing or dates and children from anyone. Please let me know at Oliveeyez@aol.com

My grandfather was Miguel Guerrero Garcia son of Emilio Guerrero Batista born in Gibara, Cuba. His mother was Maria Batista. Some way along the way they came from the Canary Islands probably around early 1900's. Any idea why so many people came from the Canary Islands to Cuba around this time in history?
