James was born on 15/11/1822 in worlingworth and married Hannah Barber of Syleham; they had nine children: James, John, Thomas, Mary, Peter, Simon, William, Hanah and Henry - all born in Wingfield. James junior married Elizabeth and they had four children: James William, Elizabeth (Bessie), William and Alice - all born in Syleham. Looking for any descendants.

A messgae was left on the above message board from Marianne leaving an email address (since tried and found to be invalid now)

She referred to her researches in Huddersfield, with her friend Dawn Halstead, into the Family tree of Henry Downs, Elizabeth Hinchcliffe Ann Batley and Noah Batley

Looking for information on William Batley of Alabama. His mothers name was Martha and his wife was Sarah. He and his wife had 17 children. He was born 28 Sept. 1831. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone on here have this John T. Batley, 1920 census for Birmingham,Al. dist. 31, image 32, John T. Batley, age 55, born GA., parents born SC. worked as a Detective for GOV. Wifes name Lucretia, age 50, daughter MODELL age 14, daughter Joeneal age 9, daughter Louise age 5, son Charlie age 22, Private in the Army.......Who did MODELL Batley marry? I have a Modell Murphy, wife of MOODY ANDREW MURPHY, in 1930 Homestead,Fl. district 117, image 10. They have a son Charles D. Murphy, age 2, Moodys mother lives with them ( Mary E. Murphy age 73 ) Trying to find the maiden name for my Modell Murphy, and the Batleys daughter fits for right age, and maybe Charles D. Agnes BATLEY (née McKINLEY) was born in 1872 in Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire, UK.

On the 1881 and 1891 census she is in Stoney Middleton with her parents:
- John McKINLEY born about 1839 in Ireland and
- Maria McKINLEY (maiden name MILLIGAN) born about 1836 in Ireland.

She married in 1893 John BATLEY (c1872-19xx who is a son of John William BATLEY and who is probably a brother of Joseph William BATLEY) in Hayfield, UK.

Please let me know if you have any information on the descendants of the above
or can add any information such as date or place of death of any of the above.

Hello, I decided to trace my family tree for a college assignment and personal interest.
I am from Virginia, and I noticed that some of you had remarked about Batleys from Virginia.
My sister went on vacation to England and went to Batley castle in Batley, England.
I would love to trace as much information as possible. My father is Peter Batley and he has a
twin brother named Gordon Batley. My aunt passed away a couple of years ago, and her name was
Carol Batley Crewe. My grandfathers(died April 1981)name is Walter Batley. He has
a brother named Woodrow Batley. I need to ask my father the names of my greatgrandparents.

Looking for the birthplace of Henry, he was married in Manchester Cathedral in 1830, and he died on the voyage to Australia in 1840, with his wife Sarah Wilkinson who was bc1803 Wakefield Yorkshire England, d Sydney NSW 1852.

Batley/Land/Clark

I am wondering if anyone knows of English connections with the names Batley, Land and Clark. My father-in-laws middle name was Batley and all he was ever told was that it was English. His last name was Land, descended from Samuel Land of possibly York(shire?) Eng., b.1857. Married Jane Clark also possibly of York(shire?) b.1859. Married about 1880 (in Eng.?), emigrated to Philadelphia, Pa. on lived on Catherine St. in West Philly. We don't know if Batley was from the Land or Clark side - does anyone????
