Looking for Battson's in Ohio. The names that I am given are Charles, Grant and Frances (married name is Battson). I do not know for sure if they are correct. From what I understand, Charles would be my grandfather on my dad's side. My dad never met him. My dad was born in 1946. Apparently, Grant and Frances are Charles' parents, but again we aren't sure of this information. Anything you may be able to tell me is greatly appreciated.

Birth certificates

Hello,
Please could someone tell me what information is contained on a birth certificate.
I know marriage certs contain fathers of bride/groom names so are invaluable on going back a generation but I dont want to spend a fortune ordering birth certs if they dont contain anything else.
I have got stuck and its to do with a maiden name.
My grandfather, Roy Batson, was 1 of 18 children. All his siblings have the name Jones listed as the mothers maiden name but my grandfather (and his twin sister eileen) have the name Yeomans.
They are the youngest of all the siblings and working out dates its seems that Kate Jones (who I believe to be the mother)would have been 47 when she had them. I'm now starting to doubt whether Kate was infact not my grandfathers mother but his grandmother.
I'm sooooooo confused. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Sharynn

BATSON FAMILY OF ESSEX AND KENT COUNTIES ENGLAND

Hello everyone,
I am looking for any information on the Batson family that was settled in Sydenham, Kent, England in the late 1800s to 1906.
William John Battson was my great, great grandfather and he married Rhoda Vinecomb and had about 6 children. The left Kent and came to Canada in 1906.
Before settling in Kent County the Batson family came from Romford, Upminster area of Essex County. I have been able to get back to William's grandparents John Batson and Susan ?. I believe there was a child born to my great grandmother Rhoda Battson named Willie White Battson in 1901. This child was born in Somerset County where my gg grandmother was staying with cousins.

I am hoping to find other relatives or researchers searching the same line so we can work together. I would be interested in finding out what happened to little Willie White Battson as well. I am not sure if there is some way to search for adoptions in England.

Thanks,
Kimberly Hurst UE
Canada

My great grandfather was Seth John Batson, he was born on 10 March 1879 in Franklin County, IN. I have no idea who his father was but it appears that his mother Louisa Virgina Batson did not marry whomever the father was. In fact, Louisa Virginia Batson married an Isaac Bunce in 1883 and had a family with him. Seth does not appear in the 1880 Franklin County Census for some reason but is mentioned in the will of his grandfather, John Batson in 1882. Seth makes an appearance again in 1900 US census in Butler County, OH, as a boarder at the Joseph Smith residence. His mother and her husband are also living in Butler Co and continue to do so until their deaths in 1910 and 1919. Seth went on to marry Ethel May Campbell on 20 Feb 1905 and had three boys, Walter Harry Batson (my grandfather), George Batson, and Parke Batson. Seth Batson died 31 August 1929 and Ethel did not die until 1970.
I am pretty sure it was a family "secret" regarding Seth's illegitimacy, that and the fact that all of our generations are very spread out over time and it was not thought about very much. In his marriage certificate he states that "John Batson" his grandfather was his father and as for his mother's maiden name he puts "Lois V. Senour" it looks like he borrowed his aunt Sarah Rebecca Batson's married name of Senour.
I have read many postings on this board and know there are people who are researching this line of Batsons, can anyone tell me more about Louisa Virginia Batson? Who is Seth's father? Are there pictures to be found of any of these Batson's including John Batson? I am looking foward to exchange any information with anyone.

Thank you for your time

B. Nicole Batson

Know of any descendants from Samuel Batson(1726) line.....two lines descend from his grandson, Richard Smitten Batson(1806) Samuel came from Hardwick, Buckingham, England...am interested in possibly tracing descendants from Samuel's brothers who MAY have emigrated to New England in the 1700's. There seem to be a lot of Batsons in the Northeast but cannot establish a common thread...is there one?

Stephen Batson - England to Maine

I have found a Steven Bedson mar. Martha Pyne 26 Feb 1619, Barnstaple, Devon. There is a record of a burial for Martha, wife of Stephen Betson, bur. 5 Oct 1621, Barnstaple, Devon.
If this is the right Stephen Batson, then he would have remarried Elizabeth (?) around 1625.
There are very few records for Stephen Batson's out there, and I seem to remember seeing somewhere that the Stephen who went to Maine was born in Devon. Can anyone confirm this for me?

I am in search of Ora Bella Batson, she married a Frank H. Blose. Her father could have been Alexander Batson, married to a Mary Babbitt. Last known location Indiana.
I have no other information on this side of the family.
Ora Bella named her daughter, my great grandmother, Gertrude Francis Blose and I think she was born in Ohio around 1880, she married Harry Howard Craig around 1900 in Bloomington, ILL.
That would put Ore Bella being born around 1860 if she was in her 20's when Gertrude was born. Grandma Gertie lived to be almost 100.
That is purely speculation on the date.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who has info.

Hello,
My grandfather is a Batson from Montgomery County Tennessee, right on the border of KY. Anyway, his father died when he was young, his name was Horace Fred Batson Sr and he was born in 1884, he married a Kathleen Ricketts.
My grandpa believe that he was named after Horace's father, John Thomas , but there are MANY of those. Any information out there to help us out? The rest is that their are 4 sons of Horace and Kathleen and I have them listed in a 1930 census, it was roughly around 1935 when Horace died. His sons are Fred, Dick, Joe, John T, Robert.

Hope someone can help out.
Melissa
The

Dennis Riley BATSON, b. 1811 SC, TN, AL

I am definitely encouraged by the flow of information lately! I am hopeful my Dennis Batson is the unknown son of Sharie's Dennis Batson (both were supposedly born 1811 in SC). With the recent links posted, I noted with interest again the middle name Riley (Connie's obit for James Riley Batson). My Dennis is Dennis Riley Batson, b. 1811 in SC, and seemed to move back and forth from Tennessee and Alabama. Is there a connection between the Iowa/Missouri Batsons and the SC Batsons? Sharie has no Riley in her database. Does anyone else have either a Riley middle name or surname in their Batson database? Thanks!

Phillip and Jacob Batson in Tennessee

The 1850 Rutherford County census shows Phillip Batson, b. TN about 1821, with his wife Julia Rose and two children. Nearby is a man I believe to be his brother, Jacob Batson, b. TN about 1818, with his wife Frances Wrather and four children. Living with Jacob is Martha A Batson, age 77, who might be their mother. I am searching for further information on these two men, and especially for the identity of their father. Phillip later married Martha Elizabeth "Bettie" Hall Parrish, and he died in Christian Co., KY in the early 1880's.

Sarah Ann Batson m. William Shackford - who were her parents?

Apparently Sarah Ann Batson m. William Shackford Feb 2, 1807 in Eastport, Washington, Maine. Not sure when she was born but she most likley died before Sept 4, 1836. Hew was born Nov 23, 1783 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts and as his brother, was captain of many ships that sailed in the New Hampshire coast. I'm going to guess that Sarah Ann is related to Elizabeth Batson who married William's brother John (previous posting). Again, thanks for any help learning who their parents were!

I have a g-grandmother, Dorothy Batson (b. 1832), married to Charles Andrew Ziegler. They lived on a farm north of the town of of Kenton in Hardin County, OH. While I have info on some of her descendants, I know nothing about Dorothy's family, or where they were from. Has anyone come across any info to which the above seems familiar? Of course I am greatful for any assistance, and can be reached at: Cazz653043@aol.com

I'm wondering if I might be a relative of Elizabeth Ives and Thomas Batson. I am the 4th g-granddaughter of Rebecca Batson and Moses Steed. The info I have shows Moses b. 1776 in Edgefield County, SC to Philemon and Penelope Marbury Steed, d. in Monroe County, AR. All I have on Rebecca Batson is that she married Moses in Columbia County, GA, but was born abt. 1780 in Laurens County, GA. I don't know how much is correct, but I would love to know if there's a possibility of being related to Elizabeth & Thomas.
Thanks!
Shelby Baltzley

Hi, very interested in your comments regarding Thomas Batson and wife Elizabeth Ives etc.

We live in the UK, but have lost the trail so as to speak.

Our last know relative, Richard Batson is evidenced in a 1881 census in Liverpool UK born around 1837ish (a year either side), however the place of birth is recorded as Montgommery, montgommeryshire. We tried Wales in the UK, but absolutley no records exits. An internet site brought up Montgommery in Tennesee USA which includes a whole host of other children. The father being Thomas (as per Richard's marriage Certificate), and his wife Elizabeth Ives.

If you have any data, information, photos, l would be very interested to enable me to disregard this trail, or one hopes evidence the connection.

If ther is a connection, l have a host of genuine proven data of my line that l can let you have if it is of interest.

Thanking you in anticipation.
Chris Batson
