In searching for my husband's side, Scuteri, I ran across a post from you. We both have the same name! I know little about my husbands side except that his fathers name was Albert Scuteri and he was married to Anne Samara. I have jsut started to research his side. I had been concentrating on my maternal side for hte past couple of years and decided that I needed to start on my husbands side.

Was just really surprised to run across your name. Thought I was finding a post I had entered!

New Email: jules414@earthlink.net, Mother passed

Well it's been forever, since I visited this site. My lovely Mother, Ellen Ude Battaglia passed October 19, 2002. However, we celebrated a magical 50th Wedding Anniversary for Mark and Ellen Sept 8th 2001. She was a truely inspirational woman. Gave everything to her family, taught piano at home for 12 years to help put us kids through college. She fought serious medical problems for 30 plus years and defied the odds, which were against her, repeatedly. Thank you Mom for the love, the gift of wisdom and the resilient nature you instilled by example. Love you always. Arthur Paul

My Father's Mother, "Nana" - Mary Elizabeth Battaglia just celebrated 97 years as of March 21st. She's still on her own and we're as proud as any family could be. She's quite an engaging woman and several Priests like to visit Nana for her home cooking and of course they were in attendance along with many familiy members for her recent birthday.

I'll start filling in the names on the family chart. Can't be that hard and undoubtedly we'll start connecting with the other good folks who share our common name. Thanks again.
Arthur Paul Battaglia.
PS, I've noted my previous spelling errors in my first message. I'll work on that too!

Hello to so many Battaglias

Dear Honorable Battaglias,
I'm just saying hello from Santa Rosa, CA. The branch that I am connected to is Mary and Frank Battaglia, origianlly of Detroit, (Southfield now) Michigan. Mary or "Nana" is a hale and hearty 94 just this last March and Frank, "Pa" passed some years ago... they are my revered Grandparents. We also have relations in Cleveland and Baltimore. What is interesting is that Frank and Gus Battaglia (brothers) married Mary and Nellie Culotta (sisters) pre 1920. I don't think Detroit was ever the same after that. There were many children and grandchildren, a lotta love, laughter and song was begat with those unions. My father's name is Anthony Mark married to my wonderful Mother; Ellen Ude (Battaglia). They're about to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary in Lansing, MI. So that's all, I hope that we should all be blessed with a full life.
Sincerely,
Arthur Battaglia
jules414@gateway.net
707 568-4472

Battaglia family..in Texas

My name is Doris (Battaglia) Peirce, my father's name was Charles Battaglia Jr., he was b.1911 TX; his father was Charles Sr, [bapt.Cosimo or Casimo 1877 in Waco Texas]; my gr-grandparents are listed on the baptismal record as Cosimo Battaglia and Maria Santa Calcaterra (or Caleatera/Calgero)...
According to family knowledge, two or three Battaglia brothers came to New Orleans from their home in Alia, Palermo, Sicily; after settling in N.O., they would send one brother back to bring other relatives over to join them. I don't know if this is factual, it could be true since I know there were relatives still living in Italy [Sicily] in the 1940's and 1950's. My grandfather died in San Antonio Texas, 1943; the family in Italy continued to stay in touch with my family for some time after that, as I can remember my grandmother telling my dad about having heard from them.
I have found baptismal certificates for three of the children of Cosimo/Maria in Waco. Sometime before 1900 they were living in San Antonio. My grandfather remained in San Antonio; he married there, first in 1895, then in 1900 he married my grandmother. They had 7 children survive to adulthood; and there was a daughter, Margaret, born to the first marriage.
My father was the only son to have children, but the daus. did marry and have children. I hope someone else is working on this family.
Please contact me at , I have more on this family and 30+ years of notes on some of the other Battaglias in the south.
Doris

Searching for family history

I was born in Illinois, my father was Primo Battaglia. He died in 1955, when I was 11 yrs old. I wasn't allowed contact with his family after he died. I would like to know if I have any relatives still out in this world. Primo was born in Vinca Italy in 1896, his father was Eueroso Battaglia and Concetta Spagnoli was his mother. He came to the USA via NY when he was 11 yrs old. He Had a sister Mary and a brother Adilindo, both deceased. This is all the information I have. If you can help I appreciate all the information I can find. I would like to know more about my fathers side of me.

Birth certificate says father: Corman(carmine) Battaglia
age 23(approximately 1923) born in Brooklyn,NY. In Aug. 1945 he
was serving in the US Army stationed in the Tidewater area of
Virginia.

Later my mother told me he was only a good friend and agreed to have
his name on my birth certificate. She also told me he was killed
sometime before 1945 in a car accident on an overpass on Military Highway
which was then Norfolk, Virginia.

Anybody know this man?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gayle
