William Batten/Battern and son Yancy

I do have a William Batten/Battern in my database. He was born in Culpeper Co.,VA in 1792 the son of John Battern and Anne Cook.

William married Margaret "Polly" Lipp(s) in Madison Co.,VA on 7 Dec 1816.

One of his sons was named Yancy, born 1817in VA died 1878 in Leon, Missouri married to Serena Morris.

There are family stories about William being born in England going back to there at the start of the Cvil War- but if he did go to England it wasn't because he was born there. He was born in Culpeper Co.,VA. If you have found his grave, could I please have his date of death? And the location of the grave?
The descendant that says he went to England says that he sold all his property and hide his gold in a coffee pot.
I would also like to know where you found that William and his brother came to America from England, if you don't mind.
Do you know the brother's name?

I descend from 3 of William's siblings- John b: 1794; Henry L. b: 1817 and sister Rhoda b:1813 ( on Rhoda's marriage bond her maiden name is spelled BATTERN). I have a copy of the will of John Battern and also a a document where he signs his name as John Battern. This John was the father of William. William is named in the will.

Another son of William's- Henry Hill also used the Battern spelling.

I can send you a copy of my Battern/BAtten info if it would help you.

Also, this same family is on an Ancestry file at LDS site- but anything back from John BAtten b:1765 is in error. This line does not descend from a John Batten and Mary Masury. There are several Batten/Battern descendants are working with LDS to correct the file.

John Battern b: 1765 ( William's father) was the son of George Battern and Elizabeth(unknown) of Culpeper Co.,VA

My great great grandfather was Yancy Battern, son of William. William came over from England in 1805 and settled in northeastern Missouri. I found his grave in Andover cenetery near Blythdale, Mo. I am looking for more information about the Batterns. By the way Yancy's name was Batten. He added the "R". I think he did it because of the discovery of the Batten Disease in 1826.
