My greatgrandfather came to New York from Italy in 1910. I cannot find any information on him. Specifically, I'd like to know who his parents were and locate his death certificate in New York and his birth certificate in Southern Itally. His name was Sabato Battista married Angelina Saltarini (my greatgrandmother) who was adopted in Italy by Michele and ? Saltarini. Any information on her birth parents or adopted parents would also be appriciated. Also any information on adoptions in Italy, in the late 1800's, in general would be helpful. My great grandfather was Nunzio Battista and his wife was Giovanna. I'm not sure what part of Italy they are from. Their son, my grandfather was Pasquale (Patrick) Battista. He lived in the Bronx with his wife Josephine until his death in September 1975. They had 2 boys Henry and my father Patrick. Any iformation you have I'd appreciate.

Hello, my name is Tammy Marie Belviso. My great grandmother's name was Maria Battista and her father's name was Angelo Battista. She was married to Michele Belviso. She left Napoli Italy in the SS dante algherie in 1921 with her two children Carmine (changed to carmen) and amalia to come to the united states to meet her husband and I think her father. Carmen Belviso is my grandfather. His children are Carmen, Philip, Marlene, Larry and Antoinette (spelling I called her aunt toni) I have been trying to trace my heritage in hopes of finding my family, as I no longer have one here. They were from Atripalda, Avellino Italy. I have gotten stuck, as they were never nationalized as US citizens. I haven't found records yet as to how my great grandfather got here to the US. I also have a Mary Frances Belviso whom was originally a Larango, and whom she married I don't know. Maybe my grandfather carmen as she had died when I was very young so I don't remember her name.
I live in Buffalo, New York area, where my grandfather emigrated too. My other family I know had settled in the Ohio and Pennsylvania area, where else I am not sure. My grandfather also told me once we had "blue blood" in our family, whatever the heck that means. LOL
Well I guess that is all I have to say, as it's about all I know.

My dads father was born in Italy. He couldnt spell his last name right as a young boy so he spelled it Battisto, instead of Battista. His first name is Gasperino and he married Alice Suza . I know the mother of Alice was Isabelle Suza but dont know her maiden name before marrying . My grandfather Gasperino passed sometime in the early 60's so i never knew him. Im looking for any connections to this side of my family because my father didnt really know anyone past his grandparents , the Suza's.I guess they werent a close family . Looking for info on Nicola and his wife Pauline (Falasco) Battista. He was born in 1881 in Italy and died in 1968 in Mount Vernon New York. According to the 1920 and 1930 census, he was a tailor that came to the U.S. in 1900. She was born in 1889 in Russia but I have no death date of place. They had Rose, Frank, Samuel, Jennie, Lewis, and Angelo, all born in New York. In 1920 and 1930, they were living in Yonkers.

Later moved to Clifton Hieghts, Pa. children are: Adele, Anne, Nicholas, Natalina, Anthony, Doris, Cosmo. Some relatives went to South America, others remain in Italy. I think the town is Lindelle.
