I have been trying to find my dad! I have Very Little information on him.
I know he had Brown Hair & mustache in 1971. He is about 61-62 y.o., was born in New Jersey! I was BORN in Torrance, California in JUNE 1971! I know he had at least 1 Brother but do not know his first name But he did have blonde hair! I believe They were at least 1/2 Italian If not ALL Italian!

Rebecca Battles b. 8 Jun 1800, Leadville, Pennsylvania, d. 25 Oct 1892, married Robert Dray 16 Apr 1823. 4. Caleb Battles b. 1805, Pennsylvania, d. after 1874, Coventry, Sumitt, Ohio, married Julia Ann Hard abt 1830. 5. John Battles b. 5 Jan 1807 wife (1)? see 1850 census Weathersfield, Trumbull, Ohio, wife (2) Mary Jane Elevens (not confirmed). 6. Edward Battles b. 1810, Trumbull Co., Ohio married Catharine Oury abt 1831, Ohio 7. Asa Battles b. 1 Jan 1815, Niles, Trumbull, Ohio, d. 8 Jan 1904, Niles, Trumbull, Ohio, married Catharine Raimer. George Battles was married to Francis Taylor, then she married Henry Skeritt. George and Francis had a daughter
named Ruth, whom married Buel Greene. Buel and Ruth were my

Where is your George from? I have a grandfather that is George Battles and he was married to a Frances. After he died she married a Skerrit.

I just came over to the board to see if anyone has any direction regarding the Abigail Draper and Mary (Martha) ?? Onion.

I just knew Martha from Asa Geneology where is states John removed to Plymouth from Dedham by wife Martha. The goes into listing the sons, one of which is Joshua, which is my lineage.

Now I also saw the Draper Geneology where the claim is John married Abigail. No Joshua listed as sons.

Now the first John, son of Thomas who married Hannah Holbrook is John's Fathers. Trying to determine if one of the Johns widowed and remarried. Logically is seems to me that John the 2nd son of John 1 who was son to Thomas either married Abigail who died, or Married Martha and there might even be a possibility that perhaps Ebenezer son of John 1 married Abigail. According to "History of Battelle in England" he Married 3 times. 2 of them Abigails and has two Daughters named Abigail. Quite odd.

Battles/Webb of AR and OK

It has been awhile since I have tried to find anything on my family. Due to loss of info on a couple of computers I lost the few people who had contacted me several years ago.

Battles Family. Homer Franklin Battles married Ruthie Andrews Battles. They were in AR. but later in OK around the Poteau, OK area.

Webb Family. Came from AL,MS and OK. Hiram David Webb married Rebecca Edwards Webb.

Homer and Ruthie Battles are my mother's parents. She was Lillia V Battles.

My Webb granparents were Ardes S Webb and Rosa Ellen Duncan Webb(She was born at Mulberry, AR. Former marriage to a J Fred Suttles)

My parents were Eugene Victor Webb and Lillian V Battles. Bother were born in 1922 near Poteau.

Would love to hear from anyone who is kin, or knows anything about any of these families. Sure would love to find some old photos.

Hi,

Looking for Julia Lee Battles (Lee is maiden name). Julia was born in Louisiana and died in Washington (I think the state of, but maybe D.C., it's not clear). She was living in the mid 1910's, not sure how long she lived after that.

At the time of her death, she was in possession of a family bible that I would love to get photocopies of. I am trying to find her next of kin.

Unfortunately, after I tried to piece together the genealogy of the Dedham Battles, I found that the Joseph I was focusing on "died young". Searching for information RE: Ressie's daughter Helen Arnold.
Ressie married Clyde Battles (1) possibly a son by this marriage. (2) Shelby R. W. (Shel) Arnold from Prentiss County Ms. One daughter Helen from this marriage. Shel died fairly young and Ressie married Claude Deaton. Family member states that Helen left MS and went to Illinois (possibly Chicago area?) and married there. Another family member states that she was in Texas at some point. Any help locating Helen or her descendants would be greatly appreciated.

I have an original studio photograph of “Frances Battles”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in about 1910 in Oskaloosa (Mahaska Co.) and Frances looks to be about 70 years old.

I found Frances in One World Tree, as wife of Comodore P. Battles, and I went to the IA census for 1900 and found Mary F. Battles in the Perry (Dallas Co.) IA census, wife of Comodore P. Battles. Her DOB was Feb 1840 in Illinois.

They moved to California (San Francisco area) had six known children between 1874 and 1881: Luke Benjamin, John Stockton, Gertrude, Theresa, Catherine, and Charles Phillip. Searching for my grandfather's Family Tree. His name is John Sherman Battles and he originated in the Birmingham, AL area. He was married twice (do not know first wife's name), but had two sons .... Jack and Sorrell Battles. His second wife was Nannie Mae Yarbrough _________. She also was married prior to marrying my grandfather (do not know this husband's name) and there were no children from this marriage. John Sherman Battles known by family as Jack married Nannie Mae Yarbrough ___________ and they produced children, Jerry Battles (wife: Catherine), W. G. (wife Doris) Battles, Clifford Battles (wife Verna Osborn) Gladys Battles (husband L. B. Holt) and Gloria Battles (husband Albert (?) Cummin. Beriah Battles has conflicting dates in 1850 and 1860 census. The dates would come out to his birth being in 1803 or 1793. He Married Elizabeth Fisher. Does anyone have any firm information on his birth? His father would also be Beriah Battles married to Mary Jane Jones. I would also like infomation on them and their other children. Thank you.

I am looking for information about Mary L. Battles. She married my Grandfather, Rev. Jacob Horton in the early 1900's. They lived in Stoddard County, MO and I'm pretty sure they lived there the rest of their days together. With him being a Minister, I suspect they moved frequently from town to town. She died in 1922 after childbirth. They had several children, only 3 of them lived, they were: Cecil, Irene, who was my mother, and Opal. Mary was born in 1886. I would like to know her Mother and Father's names, and where she is buried and any other information anyone may have about her.

Hoping that someone can point me in the right direction and give me a bit of guidance on where to go next. I am researching the wife of my 2nd great grandfather and I have hit a wall. I have the following information concerning Eva Rose Battles: Born Abt 21 March 1884 in Montreal Canada, Married Martin Harrigan on 23 Dec 1901 in Montreal Quebec Canada. Her fathers name is Patrick Battles and Mother is Margaret Hacnett (?) not sure of the spelling for the last name, as it is hard to make out on the marriage paper.

I have searched the Quebec Vital and Church records and found the marriage papers but have not been able to locate a birth document. Any suggestions on where to move next or what you next move would be.

I have searched using rose, eva rose, E R, battles, battle, batles, battle, batel with no luck

I know this is a bit of a scattered question but I appreciate the help.

There was an Alvin Battle in my ancestry line. His parents would have been James and Mary Battle to which were born 7 children (Robert, James, Thelma, Jesse, Alvin, Roland, DeEster). Do any of these names ring a bell?

The name JT doesn't ring a bell. But there are some Frank Battle's in my line. Most of our family originated in Stateline, MS. From there they spread to many places including those you mentioned. Do you have any other names?

I am working on a family tree for a friend of mine, who is married to a grandson of Earle Winslow Battles. Could you please reply to me and let me know whether this is still a good way to reach you? Earle Winslow Battles married Edith Clitheroe Ross of Ontario in 1916, then returned to Massachusetts with her (in time for the draft in 1917), had a son (my friend's husband), and then died 3 months later. His wife and son returned to Ontario, and the son still lives in Canada. I would be happy to put you in touch with his wife if I hear back from you.

According to James ' death cert his father is John Battles and his mother was Ester. Here is an excert from his obit:

Howard Lake, Herald June 17, 1897
Howard Lake, Wright co., Minnesota
Battles - On Tuesday at his home in Middleville after a long illness, of heart trouble, James L. Battles aged 71 years, leaving a widow and five surviving children. The funeral services wre held at the M.E. church Friday. Rev. A. Murray officaiting.
The deceased was born in Erie county Pa. 1823. From there he came to Wisconsin where he made his home till 1858. In 1860 he moved to Minnesota after a short residence in Missouri. He enlisted in 1862 in Co. "H" 6th Minnesota and on his discharge at the close of the war made his home in this part of Wright Co. where he has since resided. He was a good neightbor, a kind husband and afther and hightly respected by those who knew him. He was married while living in Eric Co., Pa., to Miss Elizabeth Keelar and had eight children, three of whom died in infancy and five survive, Mrs. E. A McCollum of Rochester, John Battles, Mrs. J. Merritt, Mrs. Harriet Hoover, of California, and Nathaniel Battles of Fairhaven.

I'm at a lose as to finding his parents but I'm still looking
in the Census records James says his parents were born in Pa but his death cert. says that John battles was born in Germany but the books on Germans to American doesn't have any name close to John having arrived before James' birthday. His death cert also says that his mother was born in England. I'm still digging. any help or ideas are appreaciated. Who knows there could be a link. The name Battles isn't that common after all.

I forgot to add that from James L Battles Civil war record I have been able to piece the following children to John & Ester Battles there may be more:
James L b. 1823
John b. ?
Sarah b.1831
Alpheus b. 1822
Lenorda b. 1824
Esther b. 1820
Emma b. ?

But as I said there could be more.

My Great Aunt Gertrude was married to Surrell Battles, they had one son Surrell Battles born 1918 in Jefferson County Al.
Which I beleive is Birmingham Al. That is where my mother was also born.
