I used to baby sit with your Mom.
I'm Aunt Margarets daughter. Call me some time when your in LF and I will fill you in on some of the info. I know Krista and Matt are working on this too, and Matt called Mom about this same subject. But she didn't tell him I'm doing the same thing. And I did post what I have, BUT,I don't remember the sign in. So that's why I'm here right now to see if I have it right.
And I thought I was talking to Krista, because she did post awhile ago too.

My mother is Mary (Rudek) Dokkeabakken. My Grandmother is Delores (cash) Rudek married to Edmond Rudek.

This is important! My grandmother Eleanor Rudek was a daughter of George Riedner.
I was just exploring Ancestry last night and found a lot of mailings from the Batz side. So I'm trying all these "OLD" addresses. another address for me is dwielinski@yahoo.com or dlemay65@msn.com.

Batz was Anglicised to Bates in 1787 Nova Scotia, Canada

My gggg grandfather came to Halifax,Nova Scotia, Canada as a Hessian soldier in 1778.He was in the Regiment von Seitz and came from Niederaula,Hesse Kassel, Germany. He married in Halifax,NS. in 1787. Since Halifax was British he had all his 7 children baptized there as Bates. This had caused a lot of confusion over the years as there are also many "English" Bates in Nova Scotia. As well there were relatives of his that came to USA and Canada later that did not change their surnames. We find them as Batz Betz and Baetz. Attached is an excerpt from a book titled Hessians of Nova Scotia by Johann Helmut Merz. It lists my gggg Grandfather and his children. With help,in Germany,we have traced his family back to 1640 via church records in Niederaula.We have the names of his parents,grandparents and great grand parents and all of their children. I am hoping to make a connection to Batz relatives in the USA and Canada. All of my documents and photos can be viewed in my public www.Ancestry.ca tree titled Bates Batz Baetz Betz Family tree

John Supper and Sophie Batz are my 5-great grandparents. Two of the children eventually wound up in Avoyelles Parish, where my family is from. Would be happy to share info with you.

My name is also Phillip Batz, specifically Phillip Alan Batz. I would have to do a great deal of research in order to establish any relationship between us, but the "George Batz" reference reminded me of something my father's mother said, perhaps once or twice, and I was a child at the time. I ran into your post Google-ing my own name. :)

Just reading the posting and I am the grand daughter of Eleanor (Riedner)Rudek who was related to the Batz.
Her sister Elizabeth(Elsi) lived to be almost 104, and Sister Glenore Riedner died when she was 106.Also reading an Obit that I have from Mrs Helena Riedner (July 25th 1945)lists a George and Val and Peter Batz at her funeral.
Hope this goes thru. Looks like a really old address.

Is anyone researching this particular George Batz? I believe he may be my step-uncle. His father would have been Milton A D Batz and his mother Laura May Dautrich Batz. They were married in 1911, and George was born shortly after (about 2 months after). Milton and Laura were divorced by 1916. I believe George died in 1982. Thank you for any information you would be willing to share.

Hello. Yes I have considerable information on the ancestors of Katherine Batz Yepsen as she is a sister to my gg grandfather Valentine Batz. We made a trip to Germany some 15 years ago and gathered some information. I also have info obtained from some German researchers. Consequently I have pretty accurate information on the Batz line back to the mid 1600's as well as some female lines who married into the Batz line. Its a bit too much to post on a message board but would be happy to share information with you.

Katherine Batz Yepsen is my husband's gg-grandmother. According to our records, she was born in 1835 (Germany) and died in 1922 (buried Lake City,Iowa.) Do you have any more info on the family you can share with me?

Have you ever come across any indication that the Batz family and the Batzer family might have been related back in Bavaria Germany? My Batzer ancesters came to Baltimore from Bavaria and were members of St. James Church from the 1840's onward. What part of Bavaria were your Batz's from?

Ruben Batz, born-Oct.24,1815, Berks County PA. Died Nov. 1895. Wife-Anna Moyer-Born Aug. 26,1815, Died Jan 12,1887-Anna's mothers name was Mary Jut & she was from PA, & Anna's Father was named William Moyer. Ruben's father's name is Henry James or maybe Jacob Batz, He was born in 1785-1790's, in Berks Co.,Rockland Twp.,PA., He died sometime after 1830. His Wife(Ruben's mother) was Magdelena Picks, she was born in Berks Co.,PA., around 1785-95. That is where my info stops. I's looking for conntacts on Henry Batz, Ruben's Father.
