Just trying to find out where I would go to trace my geneology? I was raised here in Denver Colorado, but my parents are from Oklahoma...I was once told that the name was traced back to Germany. I am african-american and would love to see if that is true. I of course thought the name may be french. If anyone has suggestions or if I can provide more information, please contact me at my email address.

Meredith Baucom

My great grandfather was Meredith (Merdie/Maridy) Baucom from Perry County, TN. He has been listed by many as Meredith Myles Baucom and my question is where did Myles for his middle name get started or is this indeed his middle name? I have not been able to find any records on him that suggest Myles for a middle name. The only record I have found with the suggestion of a middle name is a marriage certificate from Frio County, TX where he married Saphronia Gunn and it lists him as M. Wm. Baucom. Actually I haven't found anything listing him as Meredith either, but it fits with Merdie/Maridy/Mertie that I have seen listed on him in records.
