I've been researching my husband's family history (Kieper). Your relative Marie Polzin, married Carl Kieper - my husband's Gr Grandfather. And Marie's sister, Katherine married Carl's brother, August, which you may also know.

I have 500+ people in the Kieper family history, if you're in need of any information on descendants of Carl/Marie Kieper or August/Katherine Kieper.

My husband is Mark Allyn Kieper. His parents are Ronald/Gail (Knowles) Kieper. His Grandparents were Alfred/Verna (Rose) Kieper. His Gr. Grandparents were Carl/Marie (Polzin) Kieper. His Gr.Gr. Grandparents were Julius/Caroline (Roesner) Kieper. His Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandparents were Julius/Ernestine (Mueller) Kieper.

We had the first ever Kieper family reunion July, 2000 and my husband and I are planning the next one - June 2002, to be held in Springfield, MN.

I believe I have an old pic of the Polzin's - dated I believe 1892 or something like that. Shows both Marie & Katherine their siblings and parents, except not all siblings were born yet (I'm trying to do this at work from memory, so don't have anything in front of me to go by).

You may contact me via my e-mail (dandmfly@aol.com)

In 1997, while researching my Bauermeister branch ( John Bauermeister, b. 1825, and Wilhelmina Albrecht, who lived in Transit Twp., Sibley Co., Minnesota), I contacted a Harold Bauermeister, who sent me information about your Bauermeister family. (He said that Herman's parents were Michael Bauermeister and Louise Bratsch. ) You probably have more info than I, but I do have a little bit of history regarding Herman if you need it.

Hi. :) I think you may have the other Herman Bauermeister. :) My Herman Bauermeister was born in Doelitz Germany 6/2/1867. He died 6/5/1950. He married Frederika Muller (Mueller) 11/3/1880. They resided in Hennepin County. They had a total of 12 children- Anna (my ggrandmother), Bertha, Martha, Frank, Minnie, Herman, Fred, Hattie, Albert, Helmon, Frieda, and Clara. I have a photo from their 50th wedding anniversary celebration. My ggrandmother married Albert Gottlieb Neumann. If this is the same Herman, then I'd love to hear from you. :) I know there was a Herman Bauermeister that resided in Sibley County I know his parents are the ones you speak of... my Herman's parents are listed as Christ Bauermeister and Wilhelmena Bachman on his death record. :)

The names, dates, and places seem to fit. My source might have made an error about Herman's parents being Michael and Louise. He said: All of this particular Bauermeister family information was given to me by XXX Bauermeister of Minneapolis, in December, 1997. The information was put together for a family reunion. Here is some of the info.

Herman was a member of the Kaiser's army. His brothers Ferdinand and Frederic were twins.

He married when he was 17 years old and Fredarika was 15 years old.

Ernestina's husband, Ferdinand Juderjohn, was working as a hired man for Chris Schutte.

In 1898, Herman, Fridareka, and their five children began immigrating to America. They traveled first to England, eventually landing in Quebec, Canada. They came to Minnesota and settled in Maple Grove.

Their first home was a log cabin, located across from St. John's Lutheran Church. This was the Ed Krieger place.

"Uncle" Herman was born on March 30, 1899, the first in the family to be born in America.

Their next move was to another log cabin, located on the Herman Schmidt place.

"Uncle" Fred (Fritz) was born on Sept. 18, 1900.

Herman met and became friends with Albert Neuman, who was living on the Henry Neuman place. He introduced Albert to Anna, and they were married in 1904.

Their next move was to the Fred Radintz place, where Alfred Radintz lives now. Aunt Frida was born on February 16, 1909.

In 1909, they bought the "home place" from Henry Holthous. Aunt Clara was born on Oct. 24, 1911. They stayed here and farmed until Albert was married in 1928.

Herman died on June 5, 1950, at the age of 83. Fridareka died on August 26, 1951, at the age of 82.

Hi Sheena, I am researching the Blankenhagen family who originally settled in Sibley county. Augusta Blankenhagen was married to Herman Bauermeister son of John and Wilhelmina (Albrecht) Bauermeister. I am at a stand still as to where other than Pommern, Prussia as to where the Blankenhagens came from. Do you have any Idea or info of any kind that may help me in my research? Thanks for any help.

I was told that Augusta Blankenhagen was born in Colpen, Pommern, Germany, on March 31, 1861. At the age of 14, she came to America. She preceded her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blankenhagen, who came to America in 1876. Augusta died April 11, 1925 at the age of 64 years, 11 days. (1920 census says she came to US in 1877). The information belonged to someone who passed away a few years ago.

Do you have any idea, other than Pommern, where the Bauermeisters came from?

My husband is the great grandson of Herman Blankenahgen Augustas brother. She came to America in 1878 with her 2 sisters and a niece. And then the rest of them came in 1881. I have been researching them for almost 2 yrs and with all the naturaliization papers, birth and death certificates, etc. None of them have a city or village name of where they came from I will try Colpin. or maybe Kolpin.

I will go through my paper files this afternoon and see if I have any thing on where the Bauermeisters came from. While I have been researching the Blankenhagens I have been getting suspicions that a lot of the familes that first came to Transit Township were somehow related. The Thurows, Borchards, Braasch, Podratz, Hoppes and maybe some others. I know the Thurows and Hoppes came from Kolpin, Pommern and they traveled together on the same ship.
But haven't had to much time to see if I could find out where the others came from. been concentrating on the Blankenhagens. Would you contact me directly at 4thedahls@sbcglobal.net

I looked through all my notes yesterday and don't have a place for John Bauermeister all the info I have on him is on rootsweb.com with blehmdahl2 as the database. Do you know if he was related to the other Bauermeisters in that area of MN if so probably came from same area as they did. I had a hard time researching the Bauermeisters because both families have the same names and they were born around the same time.I will keep my eyes open for Bauermeister and see if I find anything and if I do I will let you know. Do you have a death date for Wilhelmina Albrecht Bauermeister
