Half sister search

I am the daughter of Orville Ollie "Ted" Baugh. Dad passed August 9, 1997. I have a half sister from my dad's first marriage. Her name was Patricia Baugh. Her mother was Rose Stone. I have tried to locate her and haven't found a connection. I know she is about 75 years old now and had a daughter named Becky. I don't have married names. I believe they may have been in the Los Angeles area but I can't confirm that. Anyone know anything that might be helpful?

Baugh tree - hope this helps someone make connections

I'm in possession of several original Baugh documents. I've re-typed the following, which had been hand-written by Minnie Padgett (a Baugh granddaughter). I hope it helps someone:

My Baugh Family
Peter Baugh married Mary Elam. Richard Baugh, son of Peter and Mary Elam Baugh, married Prudence Elam (cousin) Sept. 26, 1805; married second time to Elizabeth Moore, Jan. 20 – 1809. Died Aug. 12 -1835 (Richard and Elizabeth were my great-grandparents) Elizabeth Moore Baugh, wife of Richard Baugh born Oct. 7 – 1794 – died Nov. 25 – 1856. At the time of her death lived in La Fayette, Ala.
Sons of Richard and Elizabeth Moore Baugh – Robert, Edward, Thornton and Peter (my g-father). Daughters of Richard and Elizabeth Moore Baugh – Virginia, Martha, and (Mary and Sarah –Twins) Robert Baugh – lawyer, resident of Atlanta GA married Georgiana Bates – no children. Buried at Oakland cemetery – Atlanta, GA. Edward Baugh, planter, afterwards resident of East Point (GA) was twice married. His first wife was Olivia Ann. Baugh, died June 1857. His daughter Olivia Ann Baugh, died June 1857 aged seventeen. His second wife was Mary Ann King – daughters
{page 2}
of second wife was Ida Baugh McGee, Lizzie Baugh Watkins Pittman, Mary Baugh Brownhead. – one son Edward.
Thornton Baugh (son of Peter & Elizabeth Moore) Thornton Baugh married Anne McLemore. Sons, Charles, Robert, Eugene – Daughters Sallie Baugh Hogan – Hortense Baugh ________ and Lissie [sp] Baugh Moore.
Daughters of Richard and Elizabeth Moore Baugh – Virginia, married Ely - . Virginia married Dr. Dunn – children Dr. John Dunn – Columbus, GA and Mary Dunn Wilkerson, whose family lives in Troy, Ala. May [possibly Mary] Wilkerson Baugh married Wyatt Smith.
Etc. - - -
Peter Baugh and Mary Elam Baugh had son Dutory [sic] (younger son) Dutory had one son Harrison Young Baugh – married Miss. North. Mrs. Beverly, Mrs. Glass, and and their two sisters are daughters of Harrison Young Baugh. (The above is a little confusing to me) Fendly Glass is a grand daughter.
Etc. - - -
The first Peter Baugh and Mary Elam had son who married Elizabeth Moore. Peter the
{page 3}
second was the youngest of their four sons. - - -
Richard who married was my great grand father, his son Peter (my grand father) married Lucy Wilkerson Smith, they had sons – Wilburn, Richard and John – one daughter (my mother – Cornelia – married John R. Padgett, my sister (Lamar) and myself (Minnie) are the only ones left around here.

Original document written by Minnie Padgett, now in possession of Dena Pollard
Pronunciation of Baugh

My branch of the Baugh family says BAW. I met some Baughs in Pennsylvania who kept the Bach pronunciation of BOCK. (Many Baughs in America trace back to a German surname, Bach.) Most strangers come up with BOUGH, like a tree branch. Or BOW, but the oddest is when it rhymes with LAUGH, and the worst has got to be BUG.
Surnames ought to be more common in dictionaries.

History: Daniel Baugh was the grandfather of Charles Baugh b. 1873-1877 (source: 1910 Kentucky Census, Daniel is listed in the home of Charles and Hattie Baugh nee King/1880 Scott County, Indiana Census, Charles was listed as grandson).

Charles Baugh was my g-grandfather, hence Daniel was my ggg-grandfather who was listed in the Census' as being born in Kentucky abt 1827, but whose father was born in Virginia.

Any information regarding either of these individuals or for Benjamin Baugh, whom I believe to be Charles' father would be greatly appreciated.

I am of the Baugh's, directly. My father William E. Baugh,Sr., g grandfather, William Alexander Baugh, gg grandfather, Abner Pleasants Baugh, ggg grandfather James Alexander Baugh, gggg grandfather William Benj. Baugh, ggggg grandfather William Baugh b. 1775-1794? Louisa County, Va. who married Harriet Caroline Campell, daughter of Francis Lee Campbell & Nancy Barnett. I need to fill the gaps of Harriet Caroline Campell, it is said she died in Franklin, Co., Alabama after 1850. I think it's safe to say that after W.B> died she had remarried, but I can find info of her. I know they had 4 children, Martha,Mary A., William Ben. and looks like Francis Bolling Baugh.

He mined at various camps until 1855, when he came to Plumas county, where he since resided, with the exception of a year spent in Virginia City, Nevada.
I am searching for Baugh family connections in OK/AR/TX. I have only recently begun this search and have little info at this time. The info I do have is as follows:

Ernest Orville Baugh, Sr. was married to Myrtle (maiden name unknown) and lived in Hackett, AR. They had one known child Ernest, Jr., who was born in 1915, shortly after his father's death. Myrtle later married David W. Main and had 3 or 4 daughters, one whose name may be Cleo Main Burns.
Ernest, Jr. married Maxine (maiden name unknown) prior to WWII and it is believed they lived in Baytown, TX. They may have had one child before they divorced. Ernest, Jr. then married Wanda (my grandmother) while in the Navy and returned to Baytown after WWII.

If you should have any information regarding Ernest, Sr.; Ernest, Jr. and Maxine; or Myrtle I would greatly appreciate you sharing it, or telling me where I may find this info.
e-mail: Sunny6767@aol.com

New Web Site for William Baugh (of Henrico County, Virginia)

I just created a new web site dedicated to researching William Baugh (of Henrico County, Virginia) and his descendants. There are a lot of transcriptions of wills, deeds, tax records, vital records, censuses, etc., as well as a listing of descendants through eight generations. Please take a look at the site and feel free to contribute your data. I look forward to hearing from you. The link is http://arslanmb.org/baugh/baugh.html. This replaces my previous web site that focused on his great-grandson Abraham Baugh (of Powhatan County, Virginia), my 6th-great-grandfather.

BAUGH, WILLIAM BERNARD - Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient KOREAN WAR

BAUGH, WILLIAM B.

Rank and organization: Private First Class, U.S. Marine Corps, Company G, 3d Battalion, 1st Marine, 1st Marine Division (Rein.). Place and date: Along road from Koto-ri to Hagaru-ri, Korea, 29 November 1950. Entered service at: Harrison, Ohio. Born: 7 July 1930, McKinney, Ky. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a member of an antitank assault squad attached to Company G, during a nighttime enemy attack against a motorized column. Acting instantly when a hostile hand grenade landed in his truck as he and his squad prepared to alight and assist in the repulse of an enemy force delivering intense automatic-weapons and grenade fire from deeply entrenched and well-concealed roadside positions, Pfc. Baugh quickly shouted a warning to the other men in the vehicle and, unmindful of his personal safety, hurled himself upon the deadly missile, thereby saving his comrades from serious injury or possible death. Sustaining severe wounds from which he died a short time afterward, Pfc. Baugh, by his superb courage and valiant spirit of self-sacrifice, upheld the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.

Source: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

BURIAL INFORMATION

Location: Harrison, Ohio
Cemetery: Glen Haven Cemetery

Born: 1930 at McKinney, KY

Died: 1950 Killed in Action -- Awarded Posthumously.

Source, additional information and cemetery monument photo:

http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/states/pages_af/baugh...

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_B._Baugh

Note: This is not my ancestry.

I do know that my Alabama Baugh ancestors lived in Tennessee and that Reuben Baugh was born in VA in 1804. He had at least two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah that were born in TN. I don't know for sure where they lived in TN. A family story that has been passed down through the generations is that Reuben Baugh was living in TN when his wife died leaving him with two little girls. Reuben built a raft loaded all his belongings on it and floated down the Tennessee River to Gunterville, AL. That is supposed to be how my Baugh ancestors came to live in AL. Please let me know if you should find a Reuben Baugh in any of your trees.

Thomas Baugh b 1863 AL.

My great grandfather was Thomas R. Baugh born in Alabama in October 10, 1863. First married Malinda (Kate)Catherine Windsor (believe to be at least part Cherokee) on October 04, 1883. Had three sons Silas C., Fernalla Montgomery and Norman Lester Baugh. Married Frances (Fanny)Lugenia Holbrooks on March 08, 1894 in Marshall County, Alabama after the death of first wife. Had five children by second wife. Who was Thomas's father? Thomas is listed on early census records from Marshall County, Alabama living in the household of Reuben Baugh, born in VA in 1804. His wife Elizabeth was born in 1801 in NC. Which would make them too old to be Thomas's parents. Would love to exchange information with anyone working on this line of Baugh's.

I am originally a Baugh from the midwest. I know that my grandfather got around alot. Well actually, I have only visited the midwest as a child. But it seems that he would marry, have a couple of children and be on his way. I am pretty sure his name was James Herbert or something. I don't seem to be able to pick up anything on my grandmother, I think one of my cousins closed it off so I'm on line freshing up the linens! In So-Cal we don't have the Midwest starch that my Aunt is trying to...I don't know, it's history. I've learned alot of things about her character that is pretty pitiful. But she is living and I wouldn't put it out there. So if you are from Ill, or IA and have an ol'fart in your tree shakin' a few limbs that you wish you could hush--could be my grampa!! Think he was Irish. drop me a line. My Aunt did give me a picture of two of my half uncles. She sort of hinted there were more out there.

Arthur Baugh, Pittsylvania Co., VA, son of Daniel of Chesterfield?

Arthur BAUGH (ca. 1798 to ca. 1875) was married to Frances Pride SUTHERLIN (dau. Thomas Sutherlin and UNK) in 1822 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. They lived in that county during their whole marriage. His name was always recorded as Arthur.

Their first child's name was Mary Ann (my 3X-grandmother). Their second child and first son was named Daniel Thomas.

I am trying to determine who Arthur's father was, especially since I have BAUGH twice in my lineage, in different generations. I am wondering if they named their first 2 children after each of their parents? I found a marriage in Chesterfield Co., VA, 7 Jan. 1791- Daniel BAUGH & Ann GRAVES. Surety: Armistead Graves. Md. by Rev. Eleazar Clay. I could imagine them naming their first son after each of their fathers...And Mary Ann could have been named after Ann Graves.

Has anyone traced the line of Daniel and Ann? Does anyone know anything about Arthur Baugh of Pittsylvania Co.? He was a wheelwright and a man of means. He and Frances had 8 children.

Many thanks in advance,
Anne Burton Washburn
