This is in response to an old posting but I see you are still posting so hopefully this gets to you. My wife is descended David Baughman through Silas Michael. If you have any information regarding David's family, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share it. Everything I have seems to be common knowledge in the postings.

I found William Hutchinson in Guilford in 1860

1860 Guilford, Medina, OH
Wm Hutchinson 50 PA
Mary Ann Hutchinson 49 PA
Wm. V. Hutchinson 19 OH
Rebecca Baughman 18 OH Servant
Sophronia Baughman 10 OH
Mary Baughman 7 OH

1850 Scott, Sandusky, OH
Saml Baughman 37 OH
Mary A. 33 OH
Chas B. 14 OH
Rebecca I. 8 OH
Sylvester 6 OH
Perintha 2/12 OH
David Hole 4 OH

At first I assumed that Mary A. Baughman and Mary Ann Hutchinson were the same person in spite of the age and place of birth difference. However, I found a family tree on Ancestry when I was trying to find the Hutchinsons in 1850. The family tree has the parents of William Vanburn Hutchinson at William and Mary Ann Walker. It gives Mary Ann's date of birth at 1809 (much closer) and place of birth a Pennsylvania. The 1850 census shows Mary A. as having been born in Ohio. Each census year from 1880 consistently shows Sophronia's parents as having been born in Ohio.

I dont think the Mary Ann Hutchinson in the 1860 census is Sophronia' mother. There may be a family connection between the Hutchinsons and the Baughmans or Rebecca may just have been working as a servant because her parents both died.

My Baughman line doesn't have a Samuel Baughman, but I know I've come across his daughter's name, Sophoronia, somewhere in my research. Unfortunately I don't know where. If I were you I'd search in the counties of Columbiana, Stark and Medina. Also, look at the counties in Pennsylvania near the Ohio state line.
I don't know if this will help but those are the places I've been looking for my line of Baughmans.

The Charles BAUGHMAN who is listed in the 1900 census with his wife Ella (maiden name is not known) is a cousin to the Ella BAUGHMAN in question. Jacob BAUGHMAN (1828-1901) is the father of Charles BAUGHMAN. Joshua BAUGHMAN (1838-1875) is the father of Ella BAUGHMAN. Jacob and Joshua are brothers.
In later census records there is an Ella Baughman whose husband is Charles Baughman. It turns out that Charles Baughman, son of Jacob and Mary, lived close to Ella in 1880. Ella is on census page 4 and Charles is on page 3.
Hope this is helpful.

I am from George Baughman's lineage also. I have his wife as Ruhamah Park with the same birth and death dates and places as your Rushanna. I am from their child, Mary Jane Baughman. Which child are you from? Perhaps we could trade information!

I have been trying to follow Ruhamah Park ancestors but am having little luck. Do you have any information?

Sorry about this response of Ruhama Baughman. I did some more research on this person and came accross both names for her manily some body on research line did not know of a Ruhama exists. On the Marriage certificate she went by Remy Parks. So I would put both names down to keep things straight. George M. and Ruhama had a daughter with that name Ruhama born 1870.
FloydBaughman@gmail.com
This is a scan of a letter written by the architect George Washington Kramer (1847-1938) to his sister Harriet Emma Kramer, about 1926, laying out the history of his mother's side of the family in Ashland, Ohio (Susan Ann Baughman, 1820-1895). He was relying on his memory, and this list is unsourced aside from his recollections. Still, I am attaching it in case people may find it of use.

I am posting for research purposes.

Date: February 15, 1903 Sunday
Location: Oregon
Paper: Oregonian
Page 8 Column 1

DEATH OF MRS. BAUGHMAN
Daughter of Oregon Pioneer Passes Away in Lewiston

Mrs. E.W. Baughman, a pioneer woman and wife of Captain E.W. Baughman, peacefully passed away at 10:15 o’clock Sunday morning, February 8, at her home in Lewiston.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Lizzie Thomas, was the eldest daughter of Jane Goodhue and the late John T. Thomas. She was born at St. Louis, Mo., on June 24, 1849, and with her parents came across the plains to Oregon in 1850. Her father, who was a pioneer steam-boatman on the Willamette River, first settled in Oregon City, and it was here she grew to womanhood. In St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Oregon City, on June 27, 1864, she was united in marriage to Captain E.W. Baughman, Bishop Scott, first Episcopal bishop of Oregon, officiating. After her marriage to Captain Baughman, she lived in Portland. Since 1881 she has resided in Lewiston, Idaho, where Captain Baughman, the veteran pilot, has been employed as master of the passenger boat between Riparia and Lewiston.

She left the following children: Mrs. Harry Thatcher, Harry Baughman and Ralph Baughman. Of the Thomas family, her mother, Mrs. Jane G. Thomas, three sisters and a brother survive her. The sisters are: Mrs. Mary A Souls, Mrs. Ada T. Beard and Miss Minnie Thomas, of Portland; her brother, William R. Thomas, of Lewiston.

The funeral was held at 2 o’clock, February 10, at the Episcopal Church, Rev. Mr. Smith and Rev. Mr. McConkey, officiating. The latter had been pastor, friend and advisor for the past 26 years, and pronounced a most touching tribute to his departed parishioner. Interment was in the Masonic cemetery.
Does your Francis Baughman have a sibling, Michael Baughman who married Catherine, b. ~1775 in PA? They left York Co., PA and moved to Marion, Marion Co., OH in ~1827. This is my line and trying to prove out the parents/family of Michael.
