Thank you very much for this detail. If possible I would like to exchange information and send you the information I have on the Baughn line. I know that my data is incomplete compared with some of my learned collegues but I would at least want to build upon the foundations. As the data is too large for this message board it would be better to use emails with attachments. Would you please let me have an email address to use and let me know if there are any size limits for attachments?
I would point out at this point that my research is restricted to the one name study whilst others would have wide branches.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
Cliff
cliff@baughen.co.uk

Thanks for your reply. It would be helpful to the rest of us researching the name Baughn and it's variants if you would tell us more about your line so that we know exactly where you connect. If you would prefer to do this offline you could contact me at cliff@baughen.co.uk or one of the others at their published email address.

Thanks
Cliff

Are you trying to connect Sarah Margaret Boughn as a Rankin?

Sarah Margaret never married. 22 Mar 1817-17 Feb 1875. She is buried in Suger Creek Baptist Cemetery. Her stone reads Sarah Boughn.

Sarah Jane Rakin married Thomas Coile - both buried at Milledgeville Plymouth Cemetery, Milledgeville, Fayette Co,
Ohio.

By the way, Joel & wife SUSAN are buried at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Sumner Co, Kansas.

Chris Baughn
You tree is wrong.

First, Sarah Rankin is not the daughter of any Baughn. She would be named Baughn if she was a Baughn.

Second, Joel Baughn married Susan Rankin, not Sarah.

Third, Sarah Rankin was the daughter of Smith Rankin & Christina Antle.

Chris Baughn
I don't know about the cousinship but the Fayette Co. OH marriage record and the 1870 census in Monroe Co., IN call her Susan. The marriage record, which is online at Familysearch, says Miss Susan Rankin.

Hi Lonnie,
I've taken the info from Chris's posting and have been looking around on Ancestry.
Between 1945 and 1959 Jack Gerald, Roy William, Janell A, Esther and Florence L appear in Tacoma, Washington directories. In some it gives the occupation and it looks like the employer. It also gives addresses, which for me living in the UK, do not mean a great deal. There are also references to William Baughns but as there are more than one I wouldn't know which one matches your family.
There is a Social Security death reference to June M Baughn born 13 Jul 1927 died May 1994 issued in Dakota with last residence as Kitsap, Washington. Social Security number 501-22-9081. I don't know whether this links with the June in Chris's list.
From a long time back I have a Social Security reference to Roy William
Individual: Baughn, Roy
Birth date: 18 Dec 1928
Death date: Mar 1985
Social Security #: 534-20-5250
Last residence: WA 98320
State of issue: WA
Zip of last payment: 98320

Last Benefit: 98320 (Brinnon, Jefferson, WA)

On Ancestry there is a Lorraine M Baughn born about 1930 married 2 Jul 1948 died 5 Oct 1986 Tacoma. She married Alva Cecil Tyler (1927 - 1969). THere are photos of the 2 people. Unfortunately they don't have any other Baughn information published. However it may be useful to make contact for any info they do have.
I haven't found any likely candidates from the census records. Some of Michael's family should have shown up in the 1930s census.
I tried looking for Esther Muntz born aroun 1908 Colorado. The only likely match was for a Pauline Muntz who was living in Tacoma. Perhaps Esther was her second name and she later preferred this.
Does any of the above link with any information or stories that you have?

BAUGHN, Ernie from North Dakota

Looking for info on a Ernie Baughn born around 1880 and was living in North Dakota in around 1935. My Dad's Dad said he was a relative when he came and spent a month at their place in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. He was a very large man with a big expensive car. Each day, he would dress up and go to town going into many stores. He acted as though he was looking for someone. Dad had a feeling he may have been a lawman. When he left, my Dad never heard about or saw Ernie again.

I may be able to help with some information. My husband is descended from Henry Baughn's brother Lystra and has documented quite a bit of the earlier generations and descendants of the Baughn family.

Most of our information about the Wall family came from "Genealogical Sketches of Reynolds, Fewells, Walls, & Kindred Families," published 1923, by John Fewell Reynolds which may be in your local library's genealogical archives.

At any rate, we're happy to share what we have.
Hello, my name is Sarah Baughn, born to Sonja Karin Baughn and Jack Gerald Baughn Jr. I am wanting to know more about my family history, because we don't know much, but I have always found it interesting. My dad tried to get a friend to research our history, but he didn't know much, and so not much info could be provided. My uncles and aunt are Richard, Ronald, Rory, Bradley and Lonnie. My grandparents are Jack Sr. and Doris. If anyone is familiar with these names and knows any more info, please let me know.

I am searching for the pedigree of my great-great grandmother, Sarah Amanda Baughn. I think her father was William Baughn. She married Jehu Milton Callahan 26 March 1857 and ended up in Henry County, IN at her death. Jehu Milton Callahan was born in Albemarle, Stanley, North Carolina. I believe his parents were John W. Callahan and Sara Jefferson. Having trouble finding this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Viki Kaestner

Mary Baughn wife of Urban Hidy in Fayette Co., OH

I'm posting this on the message board in hopes that someone who checks it or someone on the mailing list might know the answer. Urban Hidy married Mary (or Mary Ann) Baughn in 1850 in Fayette County. WHO were Mary's parents? I've found various databases that say her parents were Jeremiah and Elizabeth, Mordecai and Ozilla, Simeon and his wife, Moses and his wife. Does this Mary show up in an 1850 census living by herself?
Please post replies to the board or write directly to me.
Thanks,
Jeanne
