I have multiple areas of confusion about Michael's ancestors.

1. Michael's father is John. I think John was born in 1760 and had children (besides Michael) of Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, John & Adam. Maybe Barbara & Samuel also - I'm not sure of Barbara & Samuel. Anyone know? Anyone have all of Michael's siblings mapped out?
I don't know if Michael's father John was born in Germany or Dauphin County PA.
I don't know if Michael's father John married Barbara Stuhl or Barbara Sommel.
I think Michael's father John had Christian for a father & Johannes for a grandfather, but I don't know anything else about John's ancestors.

2. I was told I was related to Clark Poling of the 4 chaplains via the following link:

Clark Poling (1910-1943) was the son of Daniel Poling who was the son of Charles Poling & Sevilla Kring. Sevilla was the daughter of Samuel B Kring. I was told my connection was that Samuel B Kring married Barbara Baumgardner (Michael's sister). However, I think maybe Barbara Baumgardner died in 1854 (Sevilla Kring was not born until 23 May 1856), and I have no proof that Barbara existed in Michael's family or as his sister. Also I think Samuel Kring married Mary Ann Stull, not Barbara Baumgardner.

But I still might be related to Clark Poling, because apparently Samuel B Kring's middle name is Baumgardner. Am I therefore connected to Samuel B Kring further back? Samuel B Kring (1827-1893) is the son of Jacob Kring. If Samuel's middle name is Baumgardner how did he get that middle name? Jacob Kring's sibs are as follows:
**************************************************
Johann "George" Kring married Magdalena Fye, and came to what's now Adams Twp in Cambria Co from Woodbury Twp, Bedford Co. in 1806.

His children:
George of Jenner Twp married Martha Stump;
Frederick of South Bend, Ind. married Elizabeth Steiner;
John of Adams Twp married Elizabeth Varner;
Jacob of Indiana Co married Elizabeth Rose; *****
Henry of Adams Twp married Polly Shaffer;
Conrad of Westerville, Ohio married Catherine Seidner;
Elizabeth married Jacob Baumgardner of Wayne Co, Ind.;
Catherine married Joseph Baumgardner of Stephenson Co, Ill.;
David of Adams Twp married Agnes;
Magdalena married David Snavely of Richland Twp;
Daniel of Bedford Co married Elizabeth Fichtner;
Barbara married Jacob Davis of Westmoreland Co;
and Samuel of Adams Twp married Rebecca Wertz
**************************************************
So two of Jacob's sisters married Baumgardners. But these Baumgardners are from the midwest, not PA. And even if I were related to these midwest Baumgardners there is no direct link to Samuel Baumgardner Kring. So why did my ancestors think they were related to Clark Poling?
