I am interested in learning more about the Maria Barbara Kleinheinz married to John M. Baumgart. At one point I thought she was the daughter of Johann Wolfgang and Susanne Kleinheinz. I am NOT 100% sure of this. Do you know for a certainty who her parents were?

I do not know much about the Lemke side of the family, although August Baumgart turns out to be my great-grandfather. I can shed some more light about his time in America as I have living family members who are also related to him. It would be great to keep in touch.

Thanks again! I not only found the Baumgarts, but my relatives Robinson from Wisconsin. The Luseland book was very helpful, as even Great Uncles Ray and Rollie Robinson were mentioned on the Roll of Honour page.

I never linked the two names but there was even a special report when both the Baumgarts and Robinsons came from Wisconsin.

I just noticed your message. I will be happy to share what I have in a couple of days. I have some information on Charlotte's family in Germany. Otto came here from Bremen Germany on the Rhein in May of 1873. settled in Nebraska. My husband remembers your grandfather ,who was a brother to my husband's grandfather, Herman Baumgart. I have searched in vain for information on where Otto actually lived in Germany. I spent many hours searching for Otto( Johann Otillo Baumgart) He is on the census in Nebraska as Odilla and I believe on the ships manifest as Odilla. I believe the German accent translated by the census taker translated from Ottillo to Odilla. I will Give me a few days and I will send you what I have. Do you have an email address I could send it to.

I am the grandson of Guy who was killed in a 1945 Auto accident and I am his namesake. My father is Francis W. who was called Junior but goes by Dutch and my mother is the late Ila Mae Hopkins.

The accident you spoke of involved a milk truck. I remember seeing the photos of the wrecked vehicle. My father was in the Army at the time and this earned him a hardship discharge as he was the only surviving son and his parents owned a farm on I believe Kitchen rd. in Davison. (In may have been Oak Rd. I am not sure.)
Hi, My mother was a Baumgart. I have a family website that I can invite you to, to see if anybodie's name rings a bell with you. My GGrandfather was Augustus Baumgart and he came from Germany around 1884, it is said that he came with his brother and that they had gotten seperated somewhere along the line. We have a few Baumgart's on our family website along with some pictures. My grandmother was Vina Lewis Baumgart. I have forgotten so much about this. I have been sick for 7 yrs now and need to go back to read my site just to remember.

Thank you for the info. August was my GGGF. His son Lewis (my GGF) married to Blanche) had 5 children, including Earl, my grandfather. Earl married Marian Funsch and had 4 children - Richard, Robert, Diane and Mary Ann. I hadn't been able to get past Lewis. Lewis died in the 1918 flu epidemic when my grandfather was only 2 and we lost much of the Baumgart history.

Pam Baumgart

It is not certain that Christian (Christopher) Baumgart and his wife Catherine were ever divorced. I do not think this is Christian.

Divorce: Carl G. Baumgart vs. Catherine Baumgart. Complaint filed by Catherine 6 Dec 1895 ( #16194), granted 16 Aug 1900 (#16239). Chancery Records, Circuit Court, Wayne County.

If Christian and Catherine had children, they would have been born in the period 1880-1887.

It may be that Christian's mental condition was caused by a mild form of PKU, which at that time was unknown and just labeled as insanity.

My great grandfather was Louis Baumgart (but called August). He was married to Ehster Blanch Baumgart and lived in Genesee Michigan. Louis died in 1918 in a flu epidemic. Blanch remarried George DeWitte and had several more children.

Guy was one of their children, as was my grandfather Earl Baumgart who also lived in Genessee. Earl married Marian Funsch and had 4 children, Richard, Robert, Diane and Mary. Earl died in 1967.

I haven't been able to locate Louis' father, but will research to see if it is Christian. Thank you for that lead.

Barbara died 13 Nov 1903. John's 2nd marriage was 14 Dec 1908 to Eva Niemer. They had 3 children, Frances, Robert, Herbert.
