Thank you for your reply, albeit my reply is very late. I have checked NY census records for BAUS but only 1900 shows Clara BAUS living with her aunt, Mary HEISELMAN. In this census, Clara is reported to be 15 in 1900. However, that doesn't match up with her birth year, 1881, engraved on her grave head stone (Mt. Olivet Cemetery NYC) purchased by her husband, Adolph SCHAEFFER, at her death in 1921.

At this time, I can find no connection with any BAUS in previous census records.

I can find no connection to the BERNINGER line in my SCHAEFFER or BAUS records. My grandfather, Adolph SCHAEFFER, was self reported to be born 16JUL1877 in Orville, Ohio (from his International Brotherhood of Teamsters and Chauffers Local 807 Union ID card dated 9SEP1926). It was reported by his half sister, Anna SCHAEFFER GONDER, that Adolph's father's surname was ESLAIR. Adolph's mother apparently married (in NYC) Mr. SCHAEFFER several years after Adolph's birth.

Do you have any connection to HEISELMAN or ESLAIR?
