Baxleys were here in Robeson Co NC in southeastern North Carolina as early as 1753. Baxley name is still here, and also intermarried in many other Robeson Co NC families.

Many early Robeson Co NC Baxleys jumped the line and settled in South Carolina in their migrations south and southwest.

Early Baxleys who left Robeson Co NC and went to South Carolina and Georgia were:

Edmund Baxley to SC by 1800, Job Baxley RWS to SC[who came back to Robeson Co NC],Reden Baxley to Georgia and died by 1814, Sarah Baxley Copeland Musselwhite to Georgia by 1815, widow, and came back to Robeson Co NC; Levi Baxley and William Baxley went to South Carolina prior to 1830; Eleanor Baxley Upton went to Tennessee prior to 1810; Aaron Baxley to Georgia by 1805 [his son Wilson Baxley was for whom Baxley, GA was named]. Also others that I have not named.
