My grandfather, Robert J Baxman is buried at Cooper cemetry stewards point ca., where a number of Baxmans are buried. One of the names is Eliza J Baxman b 1868 d 1915. I think you can look up the website at findagrave.com.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your msg re: Ottilie Baxmann. She is my father's aunt. Her husband Ernst was my grandfather's brother (William). Ernst and Ottilie had two son's Walter b, /feb 1910 and Herbert b. 21 Sep 1901. He became the president of the S. Wisconsin District of the Luth Church Mo. Synod. Our families were great friends. Can you confirm Ottilie's maiden name as Marquardt? I have it as Zank, born in Germany 1869, died in Plymouth, WI in 1939. We are looking for a male Baxman born about 1948, perhaps in Sacramento, California. This man may have dated a young girl by the last name of Smith. Baxman and Smith had a baby boy born, 16 November 1964, in Sacramento.

Our Baxmanns orginally came from Hanover, not too far from Hildesheim. Our family moved from Hanover to Kiel. Sever Baxmann sons (Frederick/Fred and Ludwig/Louis) from our family went to California in 1860 and 1880 and settled in Sonoma County. The family dropped the last "n" from the name. My cousin Cindy posted a message here in 2004. I don't know of a connection but considering the closeness of Hanover and Hildesheim ....

Dorett Elizabeth Boxmann (or Baxmann) is my father's father's mother's mother. The only bit of information that I have about her is that she died in 1900. I would like to hear any information you have about the Bottjers, though... Carolina August Bottjer (m. Victor Buhr) was my great-grandmother and I know very little about her family. Can you please email me any information you might have at mbuhr@comcast.net? I would gladly send you anything I have.

Tillie was a baptismal sponsor to two different children (in 1895 & 1909). Ernst was a baptismal sponsor to two different children (in 1903 & 1905)

I have looked at your webpage and have made note of your Baxmann. However, I cannot make any connection to your Baxmann at this time. Since you live in Hildesheim have you been able to research the Baxmann name in your local records? I will keep your information on file in case something turns up.

Hi Christian,
I was born in Hildesheim. My Gggrandfather Heinrich Christian Studte, *1794 married Ferdinandine Christine Baxmann *1800 (?) 04. Nov. 1822. The father of Ferdinandine was Johann Heinrich Baxmann. This is all. I have seen some Baxmann's at the homepage of familysearch; but not Ferdinandine!

The surname of Baxmann in the U.S. is still rather rare. I would like to add to the Baxmann listing the following:

Christian Julius Baxmann, born ca 1800, GER and married about 1825 to Katharine Elizabeth Kuhen, born 28 Dec, 1805 in GER. One known child, Dorette Elizabeth, born 23 Dec, 1833 in Hildesheim, GER. Dorette married Hermann Bottjer in Osterholz, GER in 1859. They settled in New York City.
I much information on the Bottjer family but nothing more on the Baxmann family. Any connections or help appreciated.
Dorette is my second great grandmother.

Charlene. I do not know how we are connected, but somehow I believe that we are. My Baxmanns came from Prussia thru New York , They settled in So IL,Murphysboro, Jackson CTy.The first was Charles Fredrick B m. Mona Hofmeister 1874 son Charles Henry m Armis Plaza Wilson ND Their son Charles H My grandfather married Beulah I Tackwell 1913.I have no other information other than the first two were coal miners in the Jackson Cty area. Hi Giles, I found a Baxmann family on the ISTG some time ago
and they were on the ship WERRA. The first names you gave sound familiar. I will look for the info later in the day.
My GRANDFATHER was a CHARLES BAXMANN married a
Molly STRAUSS,he father was FERDINAND STRAUSS. Charles and molly lived in DETROIT MICHIGAN. They both came from
GERMANY in early 1900s thru Ellis Island.

This to update my Baxmann family. Marriages: Friedrick (H) Baxmann to Mona Hoffmeister Jackson cty IL 2-16-1874 Charles Fredrick Baxman to Armis Plaza Wilson .
Frederick Baxmann became a citized of US 189? in the state of Il Jackson cty, I have just uncovered some papers that I had started in the 1970's.I have a couple of wills dated in the 1880's, but because of the time when copied they are not clear, I do believe that the family came into New York on the shopWerra They boarded at Bremen Germany Please. either respond to this posting or emai at my address

Hello Ian, My name is Charlene Baxmann and I hve been searching for my grandfather in Germany. Hi wife was Amalie or Mollie Strauss. The were from the Bremen Kreis in Germany.They came to USA between 1906 &1909. Is this the area that you Dad is searching? I found them on the Ellis Island site. I've only been at this 4 Yrs but every once in a while some thing pops up.Hope to here from you.

I'm trying to locate anyone related to a Carolus (charles or curt) Baxmann. Married to Amalia Strauss lived in Detroit,Mi in 1910. Had one son Baptized Carolus know as Charles in 1910. They owned a restaurant and saloon in the downtown area of Detroit and I belive grandpa died about 1915 but do not know from what and have't found records yet.

No coonnection that I know of. Charles came in 1900 from Intent to become citizen. There was a Charles here in Michigan by 1863 as he bought land in Mi. waiting for more information from Federal governmant and the State. Beginning to really hate snail mail.

Hi Charlene,
My great-grandfather, Frederick August Baxman, came to the states
somewhere around 1875. He was born 10/23/1853 in Kiel, Germany, and died
12/11/1939 in Healdsburg, California. He married Eliza Jane Crocker, 1868-1915, on
06/11/1877 in Plantation, California. Frederick and Eliza had 12 children, 1 being my great-
grandfather, who had 9 children. So there are quite a bit of recent Baxman's aroun Northern
California. Family history states that Frederick and his brother "Lewis" came to the USA from
Germany together. I don't know why they didn't keep in touch, but it appears that they separated
not long after they arrived. Lewis went by the last name of Baxmann (2 n's). All we know of Lewis
is that he married a "Frances Park". Is this your Baxman?

Looking for any information concerning Baxman or Baxmann. My great-grandfather was Frederick August Baxman, born 10/23/1853 in Kiel, Germany, died 12/11/1939 in Healdsburg, California.He married Eliza Jane Crocker on 10/14/1882 in Plantation, California.
I believe that his brother, Lewis J. may have used the surname, Baxmann. I have no birth date for Lewis, but I have a death date of 1925. He married Frances Park on 08/29/1872 in Sonoma Co., California.
Any info on the surname Baxman/Baxmann would be appreciated.
