Roger Wesley Baxter, son of Ernest W. and B. Elnora (Long) Baxter, was born February 11, 1948 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He attended school at Ayrshire Consolidated School. On June 14, 1969 Roger was united in marriage to Arlene Reed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. To this union four children were born.
Roger worked for Bob Bowman Construction in Ayrshire and later the Spencer Community School system doing construction work. For the past fifteen years Roger has been employed at Sky Jack in Emmetsburg. He was a devoted and dedicated employee that loved his work.
When Roger wasn’t working he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Roger died Monday, December 25, 2006 at his home in Ayrshire, Iowa at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest and a grandson, Trent Cummings.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Ayrshire, IA; his children, Terry Baxter of Spencer, IA and his fiancée, Shonda Burr, Annette Baxter of Ayrshire, IA, and special friend, Brian Cummings, Angela Cole and her husband, Jim of Ruthven, IA and Jerry Baxter and his wife, Tiffanie of Ayrshire, IA; seventeen grandchildren; his mother, Elnora Baxter of Emmetsburg, IA; three brothers, LaWayne Baxter of Langdon, IA, Eugene Baxter of California and Gary Baxter of South Dakota; a sister, Jacqualine Bindel of Pocahontas, IA; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Russell and Marie Reed of Emmetsburg, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends.
