My grandmother Lula Annie Isabel Baxter was born in Guntersville in 1891. Her father was Ambrose, or Ambers or Ambros (depending on the census and how the family was spelling it) Jackson Baxter.
Her grandfather was Stephen B. Baxter, who served with Russell's Rangers, 4th Ala Cavalry. I believe one of his brothers was a justice of the peace or sheriff in that area. My grandmother's mother was from the Tidwell family, also in the Guntersville area.
