I have just researched the exact item hopefully, if his wife was Elizabeth and they lived with a John and Jane Baybutt. John Baybutt does not seem to be a relative of William's but John is my great grandfather's brother. I looked William up in ancestry.uk and he was born in Liverpool. His father was a dock worker in the port of Liverpool. I then checked his father's place of birth and it seems to be Lathom, Lancashire. Lathom is a village close to where my Baybutt ancestors came from - a farming village called Mawdesley. This area between Ormskirk and Chorley is where most Baybutt surnames seem to originate. It is not a common surname even in Lancashire which is a blessing when you are doing family research. There are some great sites in Lancashire which will take you beyond ancestry.uk. Lancashire BMD is one and OPC Online Parish Clerk Project is another. Both are free. I used OPC to get back to the 1750s via church records for my family. It is as good as the census' and better in some ways. Good luck and if I can help in any way, I will. Eileen (Baybutt) Liasi.
