Hello Ellen, It was nice to get a response to my add. It has been up for along time. It seems that we are distant cousins. My line is through James Bayles who married Elizabeth Wells. I do have a copy of Richard and Anna's Marriage certificate. Send me your info and I can send you a copy. I hope we can share info and find more of our ancestors, Thanks.

Rick

Hello,
I am also looking for the parents of Richard Bayles. I believe I have the same one on my tree, but his wife's maiden name and the date of their marriage was new information. Do you have a copy of their marriage license? My line is through their son Wesley. I have limited information so far on some of the other descendents as well.
Thanks!
Ellen

I'm looking for Bayles family. My birth mother was Lois Bayles. I'm told her father might be a Gordon Bayles. I know her mother's name was Mary but can't remember the last name as she never married the Gordon Bayles.

My father and grandmother raised me, but I found in records my birth mother was lois. She had me when she was 15 and left. I was born in 1952. He thinks she got married and had kids as Mary came to see me a couple times when I was young but at the time I didnt know she was my birth mothers grandmother. I thought she was just the grandma Mary who smoked a lot.
I don't want to meet my birth mom but would like to know if she had anymore kids. My Dad passed away now so thought I would look.

I could not find Fielding Bayles of Loudoun co., Virginia on my tree nor in my notes.....
I don't know if you know this or not, but the original Bayles; John Bayles born 1617 England, died Jamaica, Long Island, NY, had just one descendant, who went to Loudoun co., Va....as far as I can tell, and that was his great grandson Daniel Bayles born 1716.....I have most of
Daniel's descendants on my tree,
Daniel's path is thus:
1716-1757 New Jersey
1757-1771 Cecil co., Maryland
1771-1781 Loudoun co., Virginia
1781-1800 Tennessee.
If you send me your email address, I will send you a attachment showing this line, perhaps you can find a connection.
Marie-Frances Bayles in Illinois

The history of Washington County lists the wife of Richard as Nancy Haynes, daughter of Charles Haynes. Charles father is Thomas Haynes. In the numerous Wash. Co. Census, a brother Thomas and King Haynes are living next to or close to Richard and Nancy. Richard is the son of Richard and Rhoda Bayless. In a Belmont deed, it was Balis, In Monroe, it was Bayless and it has also been spelled Balys and Bales. My gggrandfather Albert and his numerous children spelled the name with the second s. Albert was one of many sons born to John Wesley and his wife Catherine Martin.

There was no John Bayles nor Elijah John Bayles with a birth year as you mentioned nor with a wife with those names in the Bayles book.
I was curious to who they were so I did some checking on- line and found Elijah John Bayles married to a Mary Elizabeth Armstron on July 4, 1871 in Washington co., Nebraska....I also found a Elijah John Bayles born Feb 11, 1839 in Green county, Kentucky. Some one gave information on line but there was no source to back it up, that John and Elijah John's parents were John Bayles born 1815 and Sarah Fowler married in Green county, Kentucky.
I also found a John Bayles married to a Georgia Brunner, no dates nor locations given.
I could not find the above names on the census in any of the years, altho on the Kentucky marriage list for Green county, Kentucky I found a Mary Bayless (this spelling) married to a Elisha Turpin on Feb 14, 1800.....and I found a Nancy Bayless married to a Jacob Spears on July 23, 1814 Green county, Kentucky....how these two girls fit in with your Bayleses in Green county, I do not know.
You are welcome to write me anytime at my home email address if you think I can help you further.
Sincerely,
Marie-Frances Bayles
eebayles@msn.com

BAYLES BOOK FREE LOOK UPS

I have the book "The Bayles families of Long Island and New Jersey and their descendants" by Howard Green Bayles published in 1944.
I also have the Supplement to the above book which includes updates as of 1946.
I am willing to do LOOK UPS for free. Both books have indexs, there are quite a few errors in these books, but bare in mind that this research was done before the days of computers.
It starts with John Bayles who came from England to Long Island, New York in 1635.....It mentions that the original spelling was BAYLES, but future generations altered it as time went by; the index contains spellings of Bayles, Bayless, Baylis, etc.
If you want me to look up a name, please supply as much information as possible; date, location, etc. that you know of.....also please make the inquiry thru my home email address:

eebayles@msn.com

Marie-Frances Bayles in Illinois
Would be interested to know where the info came from to show John (1) was father of John (2). My father seemed to think that John (2) may have been son of a George Bayles who married Elizabeth Feveryear in 1726 in Norwich.

If the father of John (2) can be proven then our lineage can be taken back to approx 1500 with reasonable certainty.

I have only just picked this up. My father and his both researched the Bayles family in some dept. We are descended from John Bayles (born 1757) brother of George (born 1769) who you refer to, and who married Sarah Wroots.

I am particularly interested in John and George's father, also John (born 1730) as we are having difficulty determining who his father was.
Hi Marie-Frances. I hope you are still checking messages here. I don't know if you can help me, but I am really STUCK!

My great-great grandmother was Eliza A C (Adeline) B??? I believe her last name to have been close to those you have listed. I have possible information about her marriages, both in Georgia, but don't know if the last name is correct or not.

My great-aunt (her daughter)'s death certificate with info given by my grand-father seems to have a name close to one of yours (unable to read well because the name goes to the right side into some typed words). Anyway the marriage certificates indicate that her mother married first of all Joseph Stanfield (this is also given on my great-aunt's death certificate, but may be an error since my great-aunt's first husband was named J E Cunningham (Josiah).

The name given on that marriage certificate info gives Adeline C Belisle (marriage date about 1852). Her second marriage where she is listed as Eliza A C Stanfield was to Zachariah Jordan. I know this to be correct because I have been in direct contact with my Jordon 1/2 cousin. These two married about 1855-56 in Georgia.

Eliza A C B??? was born anywhere between 1826-1832 in Georgia according to the 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, and 1910 census records. She seemed to be natorious (sp) about changing her age in the census records.

I guess what I'm trying to find out is if you might have any information about this person--could any of David's decendants have had a daughter named "Eliza", Adaline C, Eliza A C, etc?

Thank you very much.
Hi, I'm the 2nd cousin of Tamara's husband Jim(Jim's grandmother & my mother were sisters) and I was wondering if Tamara replied to your message that your uncle had died leaving old pictures of Copeland, Fulk & Bayles with no names and you offered to share the photos with her. I have an aunt in her high 80s who is still living and may be able to identify the Copelands & Fulks. Your messages do not identify how you are related. Please contact me.
Tere,

You stated in one of your old messages that your uncle had died and left pictures of Bayles, Fulk & Copeland with no names. I replied to that message saying that I have an Aunt who was then in her 80s(now 90) & may be able to identify the people in the pictures. Is it possibe for you to send copies of the pictures? I'd be more than happy to reimburse you for your cost----joyce

Are you talking about the daughter of Richard and Nancy? If so, she was Rachel, born December 1837. There were just Rachel and Wesley, I believe. She was my gggrandmother and married Levi Francis. I have the spelling as Bayles, but pronounced Bay-less - maybe the extra s was added for pronunciation? Many folks were literacy challenged during those times, including census workers. Many posts list Nancy as having been born Haynes - has this been verified?
