I am not sure we have a direct connection. My GGGrandfather (McJimps Bays - no kidding about the first name) moved to Texas from Missouri in the late 1850s. It appears he got a land grant at the southwest corner of Collin County, near both Dallas County (to the south) and Denton County (to the west). He and his wife (Mary Ann Epps) had 10 children. The second was my GGrandfather Willis Bays. None of their other 9 children were named James or Matthew, at least as for as I can tell. Having said that, there was a Joseph Bays who was McJimp's great uncle who was born to Isaiah and Abigail Marsh Bays in 1786 who died in 1854. I don't know where he lived.
