Sorry about the lack of information. I'm new to this. My father, William R.Bays, was born in Wagoner or Hulbert Oklahoma, USA on July 27, 1926 or 1927. He died on Nov. 4, 2010. No original birth certificate exists. I believe his birth name was Willie R. Wilson (according to 1930 census records, US). A birth certificate was obtained when he was 18 which lists Allen M. Bays as father and Nellie Wilson Bays as mother.

The year of birth is listed with two dates because he entered WWII (Navy) at 16 and needed to falsify birth by one year. His Navy records indicate that his father was deceased and he had a step-father, however the birth certificate obtained after the war lists Allen M. Bays as father. No official adoption was done. He was 3 years old when Nellie Wilson and Allen Bays married.

None of this was know to me until my father's death, when my uncle filled me in. My uncle has just passed away, so this avenue is now closed to me. None of this was ever spoken about when I was a child.
