On the Eastman site, he posted an article about how to get books scanned. The site is: http://1dollarscan.com/.
This may be a great opportunity for those of you that are in possesion of a copy of the Bazemore book to make it availible to those of us that don't have access to one. I know that I, and probably others, would be willing to absorb the cost of this. Please let me know if anyone that has a Bazemore book is willing to undertake this.
Jim Bazemore
jhbjmb@gmail.com

Can someone straighten me out???

I've run across a couple things that make me think I have put the wrong wife with the wrong Thomas Bazemore.

I have Sarah "Sally" Rowe 1782-1842 as the wife of Thomas
Bazemore 1732-1847. I also have a first wife for him with the first name of Sarah but no last name and no date of birth but who died in 1807.
Another researcher has his wife as Sara Stores 1782-4/7/1842 and yet another has a wife named Sarah Howe and I've also seen information on a Sarah Hunt. There are other records also, that make me think Sarah Rowe may be the wife of a different Thomas.
Does anyone have documented evidence as to which Sarah is correct and should he have 2 wives named Sarah? This is making me cross eyed!

Hi Sorry I have no information on Basemores but there is a story in my family history about Basemores in North Carolina just after the Imancipation. A Basemore got into a tussel at a general store with the son of his former slave owner. The son was injured orkilled and my ancestor headerd for the woods and was chased but made it to Virginia, changed his name to Harden and raised a family there under the new name. Does your branch of African AMerican Basemores have such a story? I'm trying to connect the dots.

Kimberly, the Texas Birth Index lists your father, Billy Earl Bazemore, b. 26 Feb. 1941 in Walker Co., Texas to Charly Bazemore and Lula (maiden name Foster). That same index lists a Richard Bazemore, b. 3 April 1928 in Travis County, also to Charly and Lula. So apparently Richard would be your uncle. Unfortunately he passed away 22 Sept. 1990 in Austin, Travis Co., Texas, according to the Social Security Death Index. The 1930 census index lists Charlie, ae 50, with wife Lyla, age 40; son Willie age 10, and Richard, age 2. So apparently this brother was about 20 years older than your dad. Also, your dad's parents had him late in life- your grandfather was about 60, it seems!

Darlene I know it has been a year later now but I am just seeing this message on the internet now. If you're talking about the Oscar Bazemore that I am thinking about then I have information on him for you. He was my Grandfather. He also had a sister named Ruth, she lived in New York.

All I had on Lennie before her marriage to Coburn was that she had a daughter named Emily Bazemore.

Given that Emily's death certificate gave her father as John Bazemore, I still cannot determine who her father was or if she was born out of wedlock.

One possibility is that her father was a son of Joseph Reddin Bazemore who was one of her uncles. He had a son listed as Joseph J. in the 1910 census as age 20. I have not found nothing on him after the 1920 census.

In 1920, Emily and her sister, Daisy, were living with their uncle, Frank Bazemore. They were next to Joseph Reddin Bazemore and his family in the 1920 census.

I cannot find any John Bazemore of the right age to have been Emily's father.

Feel free to email me with any other questions.

Lennie was raised by her grandparents Kenneth "Council" and Mary Butler Bazemore.. This is about all I know on this... Bonnie

Bonnie- Mike does have a wealth on information on the Bertie County, NC Bazemores and I have no doubt that he's already looking in on this one, but what time frame are Lennie and her daughter Emily Elizabeth? The Bertie Co. John Bazemore who had decsendents that moved to Harris County, GA was early 1700s. Elizabeth was a family name...it'd be very interesting if it turns out that your Lennie is perhaps along a line that has previously unknown connections to this line, so to speak, in that Emily Elizabeth was listed as born out-of-wedlock? Maybe Lennie and John were cousins?

Lennie Etta Bazemore has a daughter Emily Elizabeth Bazemore.. They said that Emily was born out of wedlock but on her death certificate it stated her father was John Bazemore... I am lost about this one because everyone said Lennie was only married to William 'Elisha" Coburn.... This maybe true... But the way I was told Emily never knew who her father was.. Is there another email I need to contact you at? I have others as well. Lennie's father was Drew Bazemore and mother was Georgie Anna Stallings.. Bonnie

Trying to find my father DAVE BAZEMORE

I am trying to find my father! His name could be Dave or David Bazemore. To his friend Danny Sellers he went by Dave. My father was a truck driver in the late 70's and early 80's. Back then he drove for refrigerted transport (RFT) from Atlanta GA. He had long dark hair with a long beard that he would tuck into his shirt when he ate. He was a slim man that walked with a limp. The company that he did drive for he bought his first truck from and became an Owner/Operator. The company was bought out by Frozen Food Express(FFE), he did some hauling for them also in which he went to Orlando Florida. He hung around with Danny Sellers and Roger Sellers which were cousin's and also a man named Robert Turner. From what Danny told me he lived somewhere around Henderson NC. He had a guy that he occasionally took home when his truck was broke down that lived in Fayetteville NC. If you have any information that you think may be useful please contact me at ryan_wallace3@yahoo.com or mail me the info at:
Crystal Wallace
40 East Main St. S.
Hampton GA 30228
Thank You for your help!

They settled in Harris County, GA.

Rederick, born in 1812, was a son of David Bazemore who was from Bertie County, NC, and settled in Jones County, GA.

David, born about 1760, was a son of Thomas Bazemore who also settled in Jones County, GA.

Thomas (one of many Thomas and Thomas Jefferson Bazemores) was born in 1744 in Bertie County, NC. He was a son of John Bazemore and Grandson of Thomas Bazemore.

Thomas came from England to Norfolk, VA.

They evenutally lived in Alabama in the Chambers County area. They were my grandmother's grandparents and I'd love to learn more about the Smiths/Bazemores.
