He was my great, great, grandfather. He married Maria Trout. My grandmother Bazil told me Maria changed the spelling of her new last name from Basil to Bazil so that people would pronounce it correctly. I am looking for any information as to where Eli came from. I know he lived in Coffee County, Kansas. Ancestry.com has him linked to Sacagageua of Lewis and Clark fame. (perhaps her adopted son.) The name given to him by Mormon Missionarys. Any info would help

Eli Bazil, was married to Maria Trout. They are my Great, Great Grandparents. Their daughter had a child out of weddlock. (Frank Dee Bazil) He was raised by his mother's brothers. (Frank and Will Bazil.) As a result I missed out on having a Great Grandfather by default. Frank Dee Bazil was called Dee most of his life and married Ruth James under that name, They had two boys.Mathew Maxwell(M.Max)and Dewane (Dutch)
