I am looking for any information about the ancestors, siblings, and/or descendants of Ezekiel Bazzill. For someone who lived in the first half of the 19th century, he got around quite well. Here is what I know:
23 Jul 1792(?) born in VA(?) Occupation: boot and shoe maker.
16 Apr 1802 Tamor MASSIE born in Lincoln Co., KY
Summer 1816 Ezekiel married Tamor MASSIE. They would have 11 children.
22 Jun 1822 daughter Tamson born in VA
25 Jan 1826 daughter Amanda born in Lincoln Co., KY (my GGrandmother).
about 1830 son John born in OH(?)
1835 Ezekiel purchased land in Center Twp., Delaware Co., IN
31 Aug 1837 son George born in Delaware Co., IN. He is the 7th child
according to his biography in the 1883 History of St.
10 Sep 1839 son Seth born in Cooper Co., MO(?)
21 Jan 1841 Tamson married William APPERSON/EPPERSON in Cooper Co., MO
about 1843 daughter Emily born in MO (Cooper or Johnson Co.)
25 Mar 1846 Tamson married Demas STILES in Henry Co., MO. No record
of what happened to APPERSON/EPPERSON.
2 Sep 1847 James Riley STILES, son of Tamson and Demas, born.
11 Jan 1849 Amanda married William TUCKER in Johnson Co., MO
28 Dec 1849 Tamor MASSIE Bazzill died.
1850 census Seth is residing with Amanda and William. John (age 20)
and Emily (age 7) are residing with Tamson and Demas.
All in Jefferson Twp. Johnson Co., MO. John's occupation
listed as shoemaker.
1859 Ezekiel departed Johnson Co., MO, for Colorado. George
(at least) went along.
1860 census Emily still residing with Tamson and Demas.
1860/61 George returned to MO, living in Platte City.
1861 George married Iona BUCK.
26 Jul 1866 Seth married Inza BUCK in Mills Co., IA
23 Aug 1869 George married Mary NOLAN in Platte Co., MO
1870 Inza BUCK Bazzill died.
7 Apr 1872 Seth married Nancy Jane WONACOTT in St. Clair Co., MO
22 Nov 1879 Mary NOLAN Bazzill died.
1880 George married Malinda DUEGAN in St. Clair Co., MO
16 May 1885 Tamson died.
12 Aug 1885 George died.
4 Jul 1897 Amanda died.
1899 Seth died.
Since George was the 7th of 11 children, there are 3 unknowns before him and 2 unknowns after him. Not knowing the exact times when Ezekiel was in each place makes it harder to find the children. He may have been in other states along the way.
A John Bazzill married Mary Moore in Cass Co., MO, 21 Nov 1850. Is this the same John Bazzill? Mary Moore was the sister of Samuel Moore and William Marion Moore, who married sisters Martha (Patsey) Ann Tucker and Nancy Jane Tucker, respectively. The Tuckers were sisters of William Tucker who married Amanda Bazzill.
In the 1870 census of Coos Co., OR, there is a John Bazzill, age 40, born in PA, occupation Boot Manufacturer. Listed in the same family were Mrs. Ellen Bazzill, 35, IN, and Susan Malcom, 9, OR. Is this the same John Bazzill? Was this the second marriage for both?
There is another John Bazzill, of Fauquier Co., VA, born about 1762, with a wife, two daughters, and one son, occupation shoemaker, who was granted a Revolutionary War pension in 1819. Maybe a brother, father, or uncle to Ezekiel? The Bazzill family and shoemaking seem to be closely associated.
Another possible Bazzill sibling is James Riley Bazzill, who married Josephine Mann on 17 Sep 1873 in Andrew Co., MO, according to FamilySearch. That is the only record that I can find on him. I think he's a good possibility because Demas and Tamson named their first son James Riley Stiles. There's got to be a connection there, but given the marriage date it could be a second marriage for him (Josephine was born in 1852) or he could be a nephew rather than a brother to Amanda, Tamson, et. al.
Hopefully some of this will ring a bell with someone. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have a lot of information to share about descendants of Tamson, Amanda, George, and Seth.
