I think this is the Jim Beacham listed in the 1900 census. It states that his wife is Athea, and an unnamed 3 y.o. daughter. Also living in the household at the time is his brother Marion. This I think is my great-grandfather George Marion Beacham, who had lost his wife Annie Pierce Beacham and infant daughter in 1899, due to complications of childbirth. James and George's parents were Thomas Neely Beacham and Cynthia Furr Beacham, and his grandparents were Thomas Lowery Beacham and Elizabeth Henry Beacham. I am interested in any info on the descendants of George Marion Beacham and his second wife Lydia Crawford Beacham. Hope this helps.

I'm also looking for any information that might be available on Robert Beacham, his son Elmer, and especially Elmer's wife.

My paternal Grandmother, Margaret L. (Beacham)Garner 1909-2004 told me her parent's names were Elmer Beacham and Mary Ethel Ailes, and that the family was originally Welsh, but I have not been able to corroborate any details.

Thanks

Hi Julie,
Nice to see someone new getting into the search for the Beacham (Beecham) family.
I am directly descended from Philip Beacham, (who I believe was Davids brother), through Henry Beacham who was my great-grandfather. David was married to Hannah Ashman and they had a son Moses. I would be grateful to know how you are related to David and if you have any actual proof that David was Philips brothers.

Regards

Alan Beecham

Yes Moses was their son His mother remarried in South Wales later You will find Moses in Risca He met up there with his cousins from David's brother and worked with them in the black Vein colliery He is mentioned in a report about working conditions of children in a royal commision report of 1840/41
I think he mistakenly thinks he gets his new father's surname when his mum remarries
Look up the 1841 census for Risca It is in the parrish of Machen
you can reach me directly on tintplush@hotmail.com Winsor Beacham

I'm getting to the Phillip Beacham thread very late so I hope someone's still out there! I believe I'm descended from David and Hannah Beacham. That is, if David had a son called Moses who married a Mary Ann Wiltshire. I think this is the case. Are you able to confirm this for me?

Edward Beacham

My Grandfather was Edward Beacham born about 1922/3. He had a Sister Glayds born about 1911. His Mothers name was Edith (don't even have a Maiden). The Family lived in Bermuda. As a child I remeber my Grandfather saying he was born in Bermuda, but my Mom says she thinks he was born in the UK and the spent his childhood in Bermuda. The only information I have on my Great Grandfather is that he died when my Grandfather was about 17. My Great Grandmother, I can remember that my Grandfather was going to pay for my Mother and her Sister to travel to the UK (from South Africa) for her 100 th Birthday. She slipped on ice, broke her hip and died a few years before her 100th Birthday - was only about 8/9 at the time so in the mid 1970s

Have located possibly records of birth and applied for Certificate, but thought I would try here as well.

Sorry for lack of information, but by the time I was intrested in doing my Fmaily Tree my Grandfather had passed away

Nina

I have now managed to trace my Great Grandfather on the 1911 census in the UK. He is also called Edward and was born in about 1886 - in the UK I think

I was amazed at how many gravestones there were at North Kilworth - I wonder if there are any at Hillmorton.

My grandmother was Sarah Ann Sawbridge, born 22.08.1884 to William and Sarah Ann Whitmore.(see p5. number 9 She married James Chantrell Marshlain, 2.9.1914 at leicester Registry Office. You will find it on Ron's tree. They had a daughter, Kathleen Margaret Marshlain b 19.12.1916 who married Frank Reginald Willett (Reg)in Aug 1938, and had a daughter, myself Diane Angela on 5.6.1948. My mum had a brother, William who was 2 years younger but died as a teenager.
Do you have any records for the Hillmorton branch which you would be willing to share with me?

How do you fit into the tree?

Best regards, Diane

Hi Diane

Be interested to know who your Grandmother was??

Yes, I have a connection between Hillmorton and North Kilworth - John Sawbridge b 1617 Hillmorton died NK 1673 - and most of his children were born in North Kilworth also. I have photos of the gravestone of his son John, my 6th gt grandfather, in NK churchyard.

Claybrook, so far, is Ronald's side - I have tried to join the two but cannot prove it to date!!

p

I too am trying to join Ronald's side to mine, but having terrible trouble with all the "John's". The name should have been banned from the family! Penny

It was Miss Katherine Sawbridge
59 Light Street
Corsham
Wilts
01249 715386
She was from the amorial bearing family and the two vicar brothers and Capt Sawbridge. Ronnie Sawbridge got in touch with her and they exchanged information, as he is still trying to find the connection between the two families. Did you know Sawbridge meant "bridge over the sallows?" shallow water.

Send me your email address and I will attach it in the normal way. Odd you live in the same city with the same surname. I hope you can find him, if you do, get him to re-contact The Ewelme society.

Best Carol

Anyhow, I am also in Perth so would love to see what info Neil has and if he can help me out with info on my G Grandfather, George Henningsen, not a Munday, but half brother to Bertram, Beryl, Lionel and Beatrice, children of Annie Henningsen and James Munday. Not sure if I would be able to help out Neil, though happy to give it a go.

Cheers
Tanya

Tanya
There is a chap called Neil Taylor in Perth, Australia, who has a lot of the Mundays you listed in 2007! I cant believe I havent picked up your messages before. Do get in touch again. I have also passed your info on to Des Munday in Cairns, who seems to share a common ancestor with Neil - Mundays emigrated from Ewelme, not deported!!!

Best Carol Sawbridge, Archivist, The Ewelme Society

I assume Cousin Ronnie shared the info he got from Miss Katherine Sawbridge a few years ago? She brought along a huge family tree, had to unroll it on my mother's dining room table. (My mother still lives in the village where Capt Sawbridge of Box, Berks is buried). It showed Vicars Henry and John I think - of Wickham cum Welford. You should see the house they lived in. Now its owned by an Arab. I have photos of their plaques on the church wall and Capt Sawbridge's grave if you are interested. Carol

Dear Carol - I come down from the Hillmorton lot, via she who I call "naughty Sarah" - but for her I would have been a Richardson or something else; fortunately for me she called all her kids "Sawbridge". Another story of inheriting too young, perhaps, although in her case it cannot have been a huge amount. The mention of "Sir" has got me intrigued as the only one I have found is one whose ghost allegedly haunts Kent and who lived at Waldon Manor. Can't find out who he is - yet. I have not got the hang of this message board business yet, have only just started looking at it, so I cannot see what I said to people. Need a better memory! Regards Penny

Dear Penny, I hope you share your research with Ronald Sawbridge. I was thinking today, its Sawbridge-Earle-Drax for the 'posh' side. Ronalds side were butchers and builders. My husband's/Ronald's grand father built Manchester Library I believe, before succumbing to alcoholism! Another was Sir Isaac Sawbridge, and another the Mayor of Wigan - his 16 yr old son froze to death in Wigan Market Place - dead drunk! Ronald sent us 90 pages of small font print once which I have somewhere. But I am sure he has added to that since then. Best Carol Sawbridge

I am a Sawbridge by birth - now Penny Harris, living in the South of England. I am trying to enlarge upon the huge Sawbridge I have [very kindly] been given. I am also trying to tie up a lot of loose ends that inevitably arise! I found a convict in the family, who was sent to Tasmania in 1842 and then went to Melbourne [we have the shipping record] in early 1850's. Another Sawbridge with the same first name apparently and unfortunately for me emigrated at that time, so I have names/birth/marriages with no clue as to parents etc. Penny [Sorry, I am new to this message board stuff, so if you have no interest in Sawbridges, please just say]

Many thanks, that might tie up a few more ends. You can't remember the name of the Sawbridge lady you showed the graves to? Penny

I cannot help you any further in that case. Although I do know where Captain Sawbridge, his wife, and daughters are buried at Wickham cum Welford Churchyard in Berkshire. I took a Sawbridge lady there a few years ago, She and Capt Sawbridge descend from the two Vicar Sawbridge brothers who held that living late 18th early 19th century. So wealthy, the local nobility were jealous of their wealth! She is Katherine Sawbridge, lives near Marlborough. The two vicar Sawbridges, Henry and another one I cant remember - are members of the 'well bred' Sawbridges.....

Thank you, but it is Ronald who has given me most of my tree! I thought you might be in Australia. I have joined the Drax' to my side of the Sawbridge family - my tree is "Sawbridge Family Tree - no photographs" if you want to look at it. I am trying to find the join between Ronald and my side of the family. My side originated in Hillmorton, which Ronald found. Penny

Could you let me know who you are. I have ongoing Munday enquiries from a chap in Cairns, Australia. His Mundays went out to Oz in Victorian times and settled in Tasmania. There are other Mundays in Perth.

My husband's cousin Ronald Sawbridge has done extensive research - 'our' Sawbridges came from the Wigan/Rugby area, but he has gone back 500 years or so. I will email him and tell him of your enquiry. He did have a son or two in Australia quite recently. There is another Sawbridge branch who bear armorial arms and evolved into Sawbridge-Draxe. Ronald has not found the common ancestor to date.

Sawbridge Family

Carol - my maiden name was Sawbridge and I am trying to tie up the Sawbridges in Australia - can you help? I have five first cousins scattered around the country [plus their families] and I know of at least three others who were pioneer emigrants. One of these was William S who was transported to Tasmania in 1841. The last I know of him is that he travelled to Melbourne in 1851. I have found a lot of children born after that but there is confusion with William Henry S who emigrated to the Melbourne area around the same time. Grateful for any assistance.
Samuel Neely was from the York Co, SC area. He moved to Spartanburg and then to Feliciana Parish La in about 1820. In about 1827 he moved to Copiah, Co. MS.
