charles dewey sr was my great grandfather. charlie d beamon jr was my grandfather, his daughter sandy, is my mother. my g-uncles are joe, paul, frank. my g- aunt is frances. ive done a lot of research on beamon[ beaman]. i am 99% sure that george's father was samuel beaman. samuel's father was charles beaman. charles was born in rowan co. n.c. he then moved to wilkes co. n.c. where he married mathey currey in 1800. now comes the intresting part, there were seven or eight children, i have the correct number somewhere. charles and his wife and all but one child moved to pettis co. mo. this child was samuel beaman. well he wasnt a child, he was an adult when the rest of the family moved. but samuel stayed in wilkes co. he married elizabeth. samuel's grandfather stayed in n.c. also and died in rowan co.his name was john "the patriot" beaman for his rev war service. dont confuse samuels elizabeth with george c.beaman, who married a girl named elizabeth also. she was elizabeth nichols. its hard to find info on samuel. im trying to find a listing or record showing george c parents or samuels children.your welcome to e-mail me and we can discuss further. your not my first, but second cousin.

I have been to the courthouse in N Wilksboro and have not been able to find anything farther back than George Charles Beamon. I found George Charles in an 1850 census I think....don't have my notes with me. Is Charles Dewey your grandfather? That would make us 1st cousins !

BEAMON Unidentified Photos

I have posted several photos of unidentified Beamon ancestors that can been viewed on the Greene Co, NC GENWEB page. The photos were in the possession of Sadie Rivers Walston b. 1899, daughter of Annie Laura Beamon b. 1874. Two of the photos have names, such as Hubert Beamon (and Walter Beamon (see file names). However, I still don't know how these Beamons fit into my line. The other photos are completely unidentified and the file names can be ignored. They could be either from the Beamon, Walston, or Dail sides of the family. The family lived in the Snow Hill and Walstonburg areas of Greene County, NC. Any help in identifying these individuals would be appreciated.

Last month I emailed you to ask about information linked to the Beamon family. In response to my email, you had none, basically b/c I was not white. I understand that but, recently I have discovered that I forgot to mention a minor detail, indeed my GGGGrandfather was indeed a slave from Virginia. The big thing is that he was not black. He was an indian slave sold from Virgina into Louisiana. I did not metion it b/c I simply forgot. My family did not become black until 1900, when his only son married a black french speaking creole. If this information is still no help or sounds like it may lead to something, please contact me.

Thank you
Kellie

Thus far I have not come across any Hughes Beamon in my search, and at least no record of any ownership of any slaves by my direct line. My ancestors seem to be in Virginia before 1824, and at least as far back as 1734, and most likely back to the late 1600's. Records are difficult to get at those dates. What is the time frame for Hughes? There is another researcher, a Richard Parr, who has some ancestors in the Beamon line in Middlesex, Virginia, at or before 1780. You may contact Richard at Parr@safemail.com. He might be able to help.

For what it is worth, both Richard and I are white. If you are able to discover some connection to my Beamon ancestors, a) I would greatly appreciate knowing this information, and b) please accept my appologies for the sins of my ancestors.

Please contact me at Kevin@kevinbeamon.com
Just out of curiousity, how are you linked to the Beamons in Pomona, California? I thought I had all the connections, but obviously not. I am going to try to add a very large (c. 700 names) GEDCOM posting to Ancestry.com tonight. I do not expect that they will get it all added to the system immediately, but within a relatively short period of time you should be able to find more information on a wide range of Beamon ancestors. More later, Kevin
