I am looking for John Bull Beamont born 1894 in Croydon, Surrey. His parents were Robert Henry Beamont and Elizabeth Buck. He had siblings Robert William, William Albert and Ethel Ada. He married my great grandmother Rose bland in 1916 but died in 1917 in France and Flanders during WW1. Would like to know any information you know about him, and would be a bonus if there were any photos floating around.
Joseph Beamont, Chillicothe,IL

He was my husband's great-grandfather, Joseph's father emigrated from Great Britain ca. 1890, so it seems Joseph was born in Great Britain. Joseph became a skilled stoneworker and built many walls in this town. His children were: Cecil; Elsie; Mattie; Nellie; and (another daughter who died before she married),

I'd be grateful to know the name of Joseph's father.

Odessa Elliott
Pleasant Valley NY

Hi Patrick,
Are you related?
I have checked my files and found that I still have the original write-up that I did on Alma, connected to a diary entry of John Harris Chrisp, as he noted the event in his diary.
I have the various reports from northern newspapers and the last is from The Times at Slough where there was an accident; the balloon exploded.
If you wish, contact me direct or through this site and I shall be pleased to forward what I already have.
Regards,
Keith

Hi Patrick,
Most certainly I would like more info.
I came across the media report quite by accident and was so taken with her bravery at a time when ballooning was a very dangerous pastime that I tried to find out more about her.
Public Library in Omaha were a bit afraid that I wanted paying for any info I sent them, but all I wanted to do was inform them about Alma.
By contrast, another intrepid balloonist at the same time seemed to be of a very nervous disposition, flunking his ascents or parachuting early.
Regards,
Keith

Searching for Alma Beaumont, balloonist/parachutist, performing in USA and England 1889.
Newspaper extracts give her place of origin as Omaha, Neb. She performed a number of times in the USA (14 according to reports) and twice in England. One descent being at Bridlington Quay the other at North Shields. She made a second descent at NS then seems to have then moved to Stockton, Co.Durham.
