Linda, thank you for all the information about Cora Beanblossom / Beamblossom. It is the longest standing wish of my life to learn what tribe my Native American Heritage comes from. My name is Mary Lippincott (Lamb was my first husband's name Violet is my current husband's name but I always kept Lippincott in there and I always will) My father is James Barton Lippincott, his Father's name was Russell Perdon Lippincott and that is as far back as I ever knew till now. My mom Maggie Lippincott is the person who told me Cora Beanblossom was related to my father and grandfather's lineage. I would be interested to know how they are connected to Cora and to your grandmother who's name I was given. (I am Mary Margaret Lippincott, what was your grandma's middle name?) I just wanted you to know how much it means to me to learn anything about this part of my family's lost history. Thank you so very much.

Thank you (and also Linda Lippincott who got me on this little trip through the tree) for the information. I learned what tribe my Native American heritage descends from today. My maiden name is Mary Lippincott and my Dad's name is James Barton Lippincott (he passed on when I was 19)His father was Russell Lippincott. They flew gliders in Endicott NY and Harris Hill Pennsylvania area and built smoke stacks across the country. I asked what tribe we came from when they told me I was "part Indian" before I went to kindergarten every day in beads and leather fringe from an Oklahoma trading post store back in the 70's.The first question I had was what tribe we were from? Finally got an answer today. I got a little band called Lightning Tree if anyone wants to contact me and tell me any more about the Cherokee ancestors hit me up on a facebook message. I wonder what Cora was like? I hope she is hanging out with my Dad and everyone else in the sky family.

Hope you still have the same email or check this. In cleaning out my dad's step-parents garage, we found a definite treasure. There was a suitcase that contained a large Bible belonging to Albert and Isabelle (Beanblossom) Manis. Has clippings, etc. as well as notes. Some of which are:

(Clipping)"In Memoriam: In loving memory of our dear daughter, lillie Manis, who was called home two years ago, January 15, 1931. Father and Mother."

Register: Albert P Manis, born May 21, 1882
Isabelle Manis, born April 1, 1885
Married April 30, 1904

Children: Lillie Josephine Manis, born June 9, 1920
Lillie Josephine Manis, died Jan. 15, 1931.

Deaths:
Father, Henry Allen Beanblossom
died May 19, 1934 age 75 years old.
Buried May 23, 1934

Clyde R Beanblossom died Feb 3, 1919
age 39 years, May 19, 1919
Erna (?) Beanblossom died Feb 2, 1921

Mother Mary Jane Beanblossom
died Jan 30, 934
Buried, Feb. 1, 1934

Note "Miss Lucy Eshelman, Zurn. came to live with us Mr. & Mrs. A.P. Manis at the age of 7. on Jan 2, 1907. She was 8 years old March 2, 1907. 48 years old March 1, 1947."

There is also a piece of stationary the is entitled "The Corduroy Tire Shop - A.P. Manis, Prop. Corduroy cords, Sidewall Protection - 221 Calumet Avenue; Hammond, Ind."

There is a photo "Geraldine and me on Graduation night June 8, 1949"

Obituary: "Jennie Beanblossom, 14, blind daughter of Mrs. Clyde Beanblossom 113 154th Place, Calumet City, passed away at 6 o'clock this morning. The girl is survived by her mother and three sisters, Isabella and Dorothy and Walter Harper of East Chicago, and a brother, William. Other relatives reside in this vicinity.
The funeral will be held from the home at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. J.C. Oranger, officiating."

(Clipping); "In loving remembrance of our dear beloved Husband and Father, Clyde. Peaceful be your sleep, dear father, ago today Feb. 3, 1919."

(Clipping): "Lillie Josephine Manis, 10 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Manis, 640 Cherry Street, Hammond, died at eleven o'clock Thursday morning following a bried illness with diptheria.
Private funeral services were held at two o'clock this afternoon from the home. Rev. J.M. Horton officiated. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery with Undertaker Emmerling in charge."

(Clipping) "Mrs. D.J. Beanblossom, 21, wife of Ernest Beanblossom, 412 West State Street, died early this morning in St. Margaret's Hospital following an operation. Deceased leaves a father and three brothers, besides a husband.
Funeral services will be held from the family residence Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment in Oak Hill. Emmerling in charge."

There is also a piece of a newspaper from North Judson (Starke County, Indiana) I noticed that Henry and Mary Jane "Jennie" both had obituaries listed in North Judson. Do you know what the Starke county connection might be? My great grandmother that married Charles Beanblossom was living in Starke County before 1920, then Hammond. Wonder what the connection might be? Possibly a lake property in that area. A lot of Chicago area residents vacation in Starke County. My dad has memories of going to Lake Eliza in Porter county when he was young.
I am looking for relatives or people who may know any information about my grandmother Garnett Powell. She didn't speak much about her life in Michigan. In 1925 she was a sophomore at University of Michigan Hospital School of Nursing. She lived in Arizona for years with her husband Raymond Powell. They had three children.

Christina was married I believe to Abraham born August 2, 1765 In Berks, Pa. My gggrandfather was David Beanblossom, Son of Abraham and Christina. I have had trouble researching further , as when i was digging I found that they had done a name change or spelling when they came from Switzerland. Abrahams father was J. Christian Beanblossom who died in 1790 In NC. He was the son of Johann Rudolph Bohnenblustwho was forn 1680 In Aawangen, Canton Bern, Switzerland and died 1751. I found this on Ancestry World Tree Project: Williams family. I hope you are still researching this as i just now got on this site. Katherine

Sorry, but I believe some of the information you have is incorrect. Although I too have read that Rachel and Isabell were twins in a biography of David Beanblossom, it was Rachel and John that were the twins based on the 1860 and 1870 census. According to the Beanblossom book, Rachel didn't die young, but married. In this book it said that David's daughter Isabell died before 1861. I believe this information comes from the fact that she wasn't mentioned in his will that year. I believe your Isabell Alphretta is the daughter of David's brother Peter who lived in Noble County Indiana by 1850. In the 1860 census her name was written Isabelle and she was 3. The 1870 census is hard to read, but her name started with an A. In 1880 her name was written Alvoretta, and that is what is also written in the Beanblossom book (Incorrectly?). It says she married Henry Sprague and had a son James Franklin, and another child who died in infancy.

Okay, wow, what a mess. I got most of the info that i do have from the geneology sites, and from digging on them. So i would think the book would be correct. Is that the book by Hayes. I need to find a copy of that and order one. Please send what you have on Peter. I would sure appreciate it, my copy of the tree is a mess that I want to fix. Thanks for all your help. Katherine

Katherine,

I still work on the family when I get the chance, but unfortunately that is not often lately. The name was changed from it's German meaning to it's English form about 30 years after J. Christian came to America, or about the time he moved to North Carolina (just after). I am also a gggrandchild of David, through his youngest son Henry Allen. Tracing the family past America has been difficult in the past even for professional genealogists, but I have heard that there was supposed to be someone who uncovered some information. I have found information at the Ft. Wayne library, but it is hard to piece together, but that is part of the fun of it, isn't it? Beth Eberly

Hello, I too am a descendant from the Beanblossom family from Darke Co. There is a Beamsville Cemetary off of R127 where there is a great deal of Beamblossoms. She was married to Solomon Beanblossom and his father was David. My great-grandmothers was Emma Beanblossom and she had a sister Caroline Beanblossom. My Emma married John Wesley Kinnison and Caroline married a Mr. Davis.

I would be interested in getting more information from you. This is my mother's family and I am just getting started in getting information together, but my great-aunt who is 90 is guiding me quite a bit with informaton.
I did find at the Lowell Thomas library that there was another cemetary called Beanblossom and it is located on someone's farm. The graves are sinking. I could look up that doc. if you are interested.

Beanblossoms

Enos Beanblossom is buried with my great-grandfather John Wesley Kinnison and his wife Emma Beanblossom Kinnison. David and his two wives or in the same cemetary near them along with some other Beanblossoms. Solomon and Rachel Beanblossom are on the opposite side of the cemetary from Enos and John Wesley. I just received some bible information this weekend, but haven't read it all yet. I will go through what I have and bring it to work so that I can give you as much information as possible. When would you be making a trip to this area, perhaps we could meet. I just so enjoy geneaology. I just started this last year, and do not seem to keep up with all that I could be doing. It is so much fun and I love the investigation. I could give you some directions. Have you checked into the history of Beanblossom, Indiana? Do you know who David's father is? or where David came from to the Darke Cty area?

Beanblossoms for Darke Cty

I got some bible records Thanksgiving weekend for the Beanblossoms and I have sorted through all the data yet. It is confusing. But I do remember a Mary Jane's name in there. I will re-read it tonight and get back with you.
Beanblossom, In. is just 3-5 miles above Nashville, In. I don't know how big it is, but there is a Bill Monroe Jamboree there and a radio station that broadcasts from there. It is just too coincidental that this town has this name. I want to check the history of it sometime in the future.
