First, let me start by admitting that I am truly a rookie having only begun my search this week. My name is Bill Beard (William). I am a descendant from Beard's from Barnwell/Aiken County South Carolina. I have been able to trace our ancestry to Mr. John Beard and Cynthia Hall Beard, but can get no further at this point. John and Cynthia appear on the 1840/50/60/70/80 Federal Census's, but find no mention of either of their parents. I descended from their son, Elbridge who lived his life in what is now Aiken County. Any information you may have on John or Cynthia or hints for a rookie would be very much appreciated.
