William Beard and Sarah Easterling married in 1829 in Georgia

Anyone have any info on these people who married in Walton County, Ga.

Sarah Easterling is likely my great great great grandmother.

William Beard was her first husband who she married on Jan 20th, 1829 in Walton County, GA. I believe she married my ancestor William K Smith on Jan 12th, 1834 in the same county.

Therefore, I suspect she divorced William Beard or he died between 1829 and 1834.

Thanks,

Mickey

Benjamin Beard TN, MS

I am trying to find Benjamin Beard who married Anuna Wilburn about 1854 in Leake Co. He died at the Battle of Vicksburg. I have found him listed as Benjamin W or F. He supposedly was born in TN, but I can not find any of his family but feel like he is some how related to the Benjamin Beard of Leake Co in 1840.

I believe you should consider your great grandmother's maiden name might be Arledge.

Her oldest son Frank's middle name was Arledge. Her son Hersel states on his WWI regs. card that he was born in Jasper Co. Mississippi.

In 1900 your great grandma was enumerated as Nancy A. In census following that, she is enumerated as Alice (and Allice).

I believe your great grandma was Alice Arledge, daughter of Isaac Duke Arledge and Eliza B. Eddins. This Arledge (spelled Arlidge in some census) family lived in Jasper Co, Mississippi. Their daughter Alice is enumerated with them until 1900.

The Isaac Arledge family seems to have many researchers--there are a number of family trees online. A quick search shows no marriage info for Alice in those trees.

I believe this might be a good avenue for you to explore.

I'm just getting started with this, but I'm Jeff Beard from Bakersfield, and my father, Lovell Lee Jr., came from Oklahoma with his parents Lovell and Irene, and sibs John, Linda, Gale, and Richard. I know Lovell Sr. had several brothers come out from Oklahoma as well. If I get any more details I'll add them in case one of them crosses what you're looking for.

Arthur Ellis Beard

I am searching for information on my grandfather. He was born March 24, 1922 and was placed in an orphanage in Macon. His adopted name was James Arthur Little. He was adopted by Jim and Jane Little of Cochran, GA. They never told him that he was adopted and destroyed all papers. His cousins later told him about the adoption and he began search for info after parents died. Only information that he could find was the name Arthur Ellis Beard. We are not sure if this was his name or if this was his father's name. All records for orphanage were closed and all records for Bleckley County around that time period were lost in a fire in the 1940's. Anyone with any information that may provide clues, please email me at stan_sha@bellsouth.net

Hi Simon. On a recent trip to Ashton and Yorkshire the only extra info I found was that Benjamin Beard m. 1785 was the son of James Beard and Sarah Feilding. They were married in Penistone in 1765, which fits with my birthdate for Benjamin of 1766. Sarah Feilding was a widow, and as the parish registers are a bit vague, not sure if Fielding is her maiden name or that from her first marriage, that is work still in progress. Would be interested in any Brierly prior to Abigail, all I know is that her father was William. Ann

Hi Ann

That's great.I am descended from Benjamin B (who married Abigail Brealey)youngest brother Henry Beard who I think married a Mary Ridgeway in Manchester. Their eldest son was James Henry Beard who was my great grandfather who had a daughter Elsa Evelyn Beard who was my paternal grandmother. She married Walter Pickford and my father Steven Pickford was born at Mottram and lived at the Elms later lived in by LS Lowry.

I had already managed to work out most of the Beard tree and your Beard line was exactly as I had it. Am interested to hear if you have any early history/ papers/photos on the Beards. I visited Penistone only a few months ago - where the Beards came from before all moving over to Stalybridge. I think they were weavers in Penistone and presumably most worked in the cotton industry in Stalybridge. My Pickford side were quite succesful in the cotton industry and became Mill managers in Hyde.

My Beard grandmother moved South to Benfleet and her two very musical brothers both died in WW1. There is a very strong musical line arising from the Beards and my cousin was leader of the Liverpool Phil for many years.

I think I can take the Brearley line back a few more generations but not Benjamin Beard.

I guess we should exchange some tree information.

Simon Pickford

Thank you so much! I started with the information that her name was Alice, then found the 1900 census you spoke of listing Nancy A.

I will look into the Arledge family research and see if I can find any connections. This sounds like a good lead and I'm excited to start checking on it.

Thanks for taking the time to write.

Betty
