I know I was named after my great grandmother whose name was Elizabeth Bearden and my family lived in the southern United States during the 1800s. I will try to find out more information to see if susannah or ambrose are linked to my family in any way. Unfortunately most of my family from that side has passed away so finding out any information will be pretty difficult. I will see what I can do ...
Hello Again, MS. Dincklau! Nice to hear from you. My curiosity, is well peeked now. I'll write a list, of peoples names. I'll begin with my mothers mom. Some of this is repeat, hopefully a list in some order, will be useful.

Sarah Isabelle Bearden. Maiden name Davies, or Davey's
She also was married to Merle Williamson, of Belvidere Nebraska. So! Sarah Isabelle (Davies)(Bearden)(Williamson)From single, thru marriages.

My mother, Sarahs daughter is.
Betty Jane Hawkins. Of Belvidere, Nebraska. Betty Jane, was married to my father Eldon M Hoover. So! Betty Jane (Bearden)(Hoover)(Hawkins)

My Mother has three children. Myself, Jackie James Hoover. William Robert Hoover and Cynthia Jane (Hoover)(Merriman) (Sydow)

We are aged 62, 59, and 56. I am the eldest. I live in Seward, Nebraska at the moment. Cynthia, lives here, as well. William, lives in the Chicago area. I often live in London, England. I'm Married to an English woman. That's another story!

Anyway! were the main characters, in this search, but would love to add more people and info. We, like you, are missing much of our history. People are aging and time is short. It would be wonderful, to piece things together.

That pic, you have, With the 3 children really cranks up my curiosity. It's the right amount of kids, but the names are unknown to me. I'm curious! How did these kids, all drop from sight and sound? Are the names accurate? On the surface, it sounds like a pic, of myself, william and Cindy. Still! 3 kids, is pretty common. I would love, to see that pic. Hmmm! I was often called Jim, or Jimmy, when I was a child.

I've never heard of C.D. Sorwart or anyone named Zurfluh. I will ask my mother, if those names ring any bells. I've also never heard of Randy, or Beth. Two more mysteries and missing people.

I do know. Jim Bearden, was a very heavy drinker. Actually from what I've been told, a serious alcoholic. He may have had relationships, that none of us today, have any clue about. If What I've been told,is true, it's possible Jim, wasn't able. capable, or responsible enough, to care for a child. I also think that it was just post depression times and circumstances may have been very difficult. I think, in those days, people were far more closed about very personal matters.

Yes! Jim Bearden, was in the navy. I've read a couple of letters, he wrote to my Grandmother, or my mother. They were written, while he was on a ship, in the pacific, if my memory is accurate. It's been a long time, since I read those letters. I've also seen pics of Jim, in his uniform.

I'm wondering, If I, should try to contact Barb Litrell? My mother knows her. They once ran a second hand shop in Fairbury Nebraska. I think, they might still be there. My only apprehension is, that My mother and Barb, for some reason don't seem to get along. I've never met Barb. I know nothing of her. What their issues are, I've not a clue. I'd never even heard of the Litrell's until a few months back.

There are many mysteries here. There's plenty to hold ones interest. mainly, who are we collectively? I'd really like to find some answers. Take care! Hope to hear from you soon. My E-mail address, is neb.boy@hotmail.com Bye for now
Jack Hoover

Do you have siblings and what are their names? I have a picture of Betty Jane And a husband and 3 young children,2boy's and a girl.Written on the backis"Betty Jane and her 1st husband C.D. Sorwart,Next husband was a Zurfluh they had two kids a boy Randy and a girl Beth" This was sent to me by Barb Littrell. The children in the picture are named Debby,Dirk, and Jim.If any of this sounds familiar let me know.My Grandmother would have been BettyJanes grandmother.
Hello MS. Denclau! I just found your message. I'm afraid, I'm a bit slow. No one, has ever responded before. Your message, was a pleasant surprise. I actually know very little. That's why I'm searching. I didn't even know of Ira Bearden, until I found a bit of info, last April. I do know, he was my Great grandfather and my grandfathers dad. I know a little about Walter and Nettie Schweer. I saw them occasionally as a child. I believe, they are buried, in the Powell, Nebraska cemetery. Jim Bearden, was killed, in a hotel fire, in KS City, in the mid to late 1950's. Where his remains are, I'm not sure, but think, they are also buried, in the same cemetery, as Butch (Walter)and Nettie Schweer. Your message gave me pause. My Mothers name, is (Betty Jane)Hawkins. Her maiden name, was Bearden. She is, Jim's Daughter. I was told by my mother, that the adopted daughter, left the area, never to be heard of again. Jim Bearden, was married to my moms mother Sarah Isabelle Bearden. Her maiden name, was Davies, or Davey's Sarah, died in 1964, when I was 15 years old. She left a huge void in my life and a huge void in family history. My mother, is now 75 years of age and says, she remembers very little. I'm a little suspicious, of that, so I'm looking for other sources of info. I am quite willing to share with you anything, I can. I'm wondering, if we, are somehow related? If this looks promising for either of us, I'll gladly pay for a membership. Maybe that would offer more records and info. Anyway! If you have any questions, you think, I may be able to answer, Please message me again. My full name is Jackie James Hoover. I hope, to hear from you soon. Be well!

I too am looking for information on Ambrose/Ambers Bearden. I know that "Susan" is buried at the feet of her son William John Bearden at New Hope Church in Oconee County SC. Her stone is tiny, and hard to read. I wish a new one could be erected. According to her obit, she died in 1900. Her grave says "aged 98 years". Ambrose is a mystery. According to William John Bearden's obituary, he was born in Anderson County, SC and he moved to Oconee County when he was still quite young. This leads me to believe that the family moved to Oconee County in the 1840's. I have found the wedding announcements for William John Bearden and for his sister Lavina in the old Keowee Courier newspaper. They were both married by a Rev. E. Collins. I am currently trying to find out the church that he pastored. Perhaps Ambrose is buried in the graveyard.

Ms Dencklau! I was just looking for info. on my family history. I came across your query on Ira Bearden. The info. you posted makes me sure, that Ira Bearden, was my great grandfather. Nettie, married to as I knew of him (Butch Schweer)actual name was Walter. Nettie, was my Grandfather's (Jim Bearden's) sister. Jim Bearden, died, in a hotel fire, i KS City, sometime, in the mid to late 1950's. Jim Bearden, was married to my grandmother Sarah. Maiden name (davies, or Daveys) We lived, in and around Hebron, Nebraska. I know very little else, but would love to share any info. I do know, that a woman, living in Fairbury, Nebraska, is probably the adopted daughter, you've referred to. I think, her name is (Barbara litrell) I'm not positive of the spelling, but the name is correct. Her and her husband ran a second hand, or thrift store, in Fairbury.

Hello Bearden researchers. I am researching the line of Elizabeth Black, mother of Wiley Bearden and John Bearden that you speak of. Elizabeth is the daughter of Gavin Black and Elizabeth Myers. Elizabeth Black Bearden had a brother name Joel P. Black that also removed from Georgia to White Oak Twnp, Jefferson Co., AR. And, a brother Pleasant N. Black that removed to Hot Springs, Co., ARk. Wondering if you have any info on the Black brothers. Appreciate your help. Scott Black

Bearden family of S.C., Tenn and Tex..

I am looking for info on the William Bearden family who wound-up in Red River Co Texas in 1870. If you look at this family in 1860 (RRCT) you realize their oldest child (Victoria) was born in Tenn. in 1849/50. Looking at the Giles Co. Tenn. 1850 census you find W.F. Bearden (24 yrs), Eliza (20), and Malvina V.(1yr).

On that same page, just above W.F., is the family of Enoc Beardon (56 yrs) and Sarah (53 yrs). Just above Enoc Bearden is the family of Benj. Bearden (77 yrs)and Elizabeth (76 yrs). All three heads of house were born in S.C..

Is this one family? Is this father, son, and Grandson?

Did their son John, b: 1717 possibly have sons, Arthur and Thomas?
I am researching for a friend of my son. His family info from an older sister is without dates, but she notes ancestors as: Francis BEARDEN, Jacob BURDON, Francis BEARDEN, John, Brothers - Arthur & Thomas BEARDEN, who one is father of Seaborn BEARDEN, b:< 1814 NC or SC and other is father of Hannah J. BEARDEN, b:< 1820 SC. Cousins Seaborn & Hannah married bef 1838 and wound up in TN.
Can anyone help with this mixed up tree?
Thanks, Jimmy M. Sisson sisson42@aol.com
