I read your message. John Baty was my great great grandfather and the one who came over from England to settle in Ontario, Canada. His wife was Jane Scott. I am just gong to look over my family tree and see where Margaret (Maggie) beattie fits in. I have quite a bit of info on the Baty's but have been trying to figure out where they first lived when they arrived in Canada.
The first cencus I have been able to find is 1851.
