William Beaty was my great-great-great grandfather. He lived in McNairy County. There is a Beaty cemetery there. His name is on a monument to early settlers on the courthouse lawn although his name is spelled differently (Beatty, I think). His son John was my great-great grandfather, whose son, Pleasant Beaty was my great-grandfather. Pleasant fought in the civil war for the union. There is a local story about the Sixth Tennessee Cavalry (I think), whose members were recruited by a man who lived there to fight for the Union. His son was Robert Frances Beaty, my grandfather. We have quite a bit of information about the family. Wanda Morgan, wandabmorgan1@sbcglobal.net. I'd love to have any information you have. William's ancestor was Frances Beaty, from Scotland, who was "banished to the colonies" by the British because he was a Jacobite. You can read about them in the history books or online.
