Karen, could be the connection from your Beaty line is through a couple of generations on the maternal side of the family - that is, different surnames. Barbara Ann (Leonard) Beaty's parents were Henry G. Leonard (1805 Cherokee, GA) and Barbary Morgan (1907 TN).

Henry G. Leonard's father was Henry Leonard (born Scotland, Ireland.)

So Our Beaty line is traced back to Georgia through the maternal side of the famly. Perhaps yours is too.
