I'd be most grateful for any information on Ian Beaty year of birth 12t Nov 1932,son of Ellaline Crone (10/10/1905) and Robert Beaty who married 1931 in Cockermouth, Cumberland.

This was my grandmothers first marriage, and when she divorced, Ian went to live with his father, and it is rumoured that he emigrated to Australia. I have found a passenger list for Ian Thomas Roperi BEATY date of voyage 8 April 1958 from london to Sydney, Australia he as noted to be single and his vocation was a Marine Engineer.

Any inormation would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Aylish

Re: Margaret Laura Elizabeth Beaty/Shuman

Since originally posting my message, I have learned that my grandmother's name was MARGARET LAURA ELIZABETH BEATY who married CHARLES AUGUSTUS SHUMAN in Mecklenburg County,Charlotte, NC.
Her father's name was Henry Leny Beaty and his father's name was William C. Beaty.
She was not orphaned as I was told over the years, but her mother did die when she was very young. Her name was Margaret Elizabeth Smith Beaty. After her mother's death, Her father then married a lady named Cresy Unknown last name in May, 1870. Can anyone assist me further? It would deeply be appreciated.

Paulette,

I live in Winona! Small world, huh?

I actually found William, Sarah, Tular and Helon in a "Tallahatchie" county census from 1870. At that time William is 40, Sarah is 35, Tular (listed on census as "Sula A") is 8, and Helon A (which I assume from your earlier message is Helen Ann and, again I assume who married Henry Pink Long) is 1. I put Tallahatchie in quotes because, when I compared an 1880 map to a current map, the county lines seem different.

My dad grew up right down the road (now Highway 7) from Uncle John William and Miss Annie. My daddy thought very highly of Uncle John William and Miss Annie. I remember going to Miss Annie's house when I was a little girl. She was a sweet lady.

Jennie married my G GF J.H. (James Henry) Mcneer. He had already been married (around Lexington, MS) and had about 9 children from that first marriage. So that would account for the age differenc between Jennie and him.

Jennie and JH's son Theodore Douglas (Doug) is my gf. My dad is Harold. Daddy was really close to Grandma Jennie. She lived with Daddy and his family for a long time. Jennie's daughters Gladys and Louise lived with them for a while as adults also.

I have a picture of Jennie at my mom's house. I also have a picture of an elderly lady sitting in a rocking chair on a porch. From what I understand, it is a picture of Jennie's mom Elizabeth (Betty). I'd love to see the pic of Tular.

Have you heard of any family members with the last name "Berry?" There is a William Beaty who married a F.V. Berry in Carroll Co in 1844. It is also documented as V.F. Berry. I'm wondering if this is the same William Beaty. Also, have you every heard of Ceralvo in Carroll Co? I've seen it mentioned several times in my research.

Daddy always told me we were related to Beaty's, Beckwith's, Longs and Parkers. And there's a lot of each of them in Longview Cemetery in Carroll Co!

I'll get in touch with you when I make the trip to the courthouse.

Talk to you soon!
Deeeelighted to hear from you.

I am descended from Robert Coleman Parker and William Wylie Parker. I have Tular Agnes Beaty Parker's portrait hanging on my wall. Jennie was her half-sister. One of Robert Coleman and Tular's daughters married John William McNeer (Jennie's stepson) Dad was semiorphaned at one and lived off and on with John William and Annie McNeer so I gained many stories about them from my dad.

Love to share any info. I have not gotten any further back than William Beaty. I live between Winona and Grenada, so when you make your visit, call me at 662-283-3662. I am retired (2008) so I am available most days.

Daddy said that Jenny McNeer had an "out of wedlock" child and when she decided to marry Mr. McNeer there was much talk about why she would marry "that old man". The out of wedlock child according to my dad was Marie who married Charlie Beckwith (George Washington Beckwith/Emiline Ratliff Beckwith).

What is your line? Looking forward to seeing you.

Paulette

I am Jennie Beaty McNeer's g gd. I have some info on William and Elizabeth. Would love to see any info you have on them. I am planning a trip to the Carroll Co courthouse soon. May possibly have to go to Grenada Co courthouse. I think that at one time Carroll Co actually contained Grenada Co. and I have found (on line) some land deeds that were donein Grenada Co.

Also, did you mention that Samuel (Jennie's brother) lived with you for a while? I seem to remember someone saying that on the message board but I can't find it now.

Feel free to contact me directly at cherylrogers1@yahoo.com

Jennie Beaty daughter of Elizabeth Davenport Beaty

This is Cheryl McNeer Rogers. Emcneer is my brother Eddie McNeer. My great-grandmother is Jennie Beaty McNeer. Her son Douglas was my grandfather. His son Harold Lloyd was my father. My brother Eddie and I have just started researching th Beaty side of the family, but we have a good bit of info on the McNeers. I had hit a roadblock with Elizabeth until your message.

First, for reference you may want to visit the 1900 Carroll Co. MS census, Beat 2 page. 17. Now, find the "Batin" family. I'm pretty sure this is the Beaty family because Samuel and Jenni (my ggm) are buried at Longview Methodist Cemetery in Carroll Co and the dates pretty much agree. Plus you referenced Jennie's marriage to a McNeer. Accoreding to the census, Elizabeth had 5 kids, Samuel, Edward, Jennie, Katie and Emma. Note that Edward is listed as head-of-household. Don't know why the elder son isn't.

I can't find them prior to the 1900 census so any info you would share would be greatly appreciated.

Also if you want to see the graves visit findagrave.com and put in Samuel Beaty. It will pull up a picture of his headstone. Jennie is buried right next to him.

You might also want to visit the 1920 census for Carroll Co as well. JH and Jennie are listed. The Stansons listed under JH are actually McNeers but the transcriber erroneously listed them as Stansons.

Again, would greatly appreciate any info you could share.

I have quite a lot of information on this family if anyone is interested. My husband's grandmother, Anna Pearl BEATY, b. March 24, 1884, was the daughter of James Freeman Beaty and Mary Elizabeth LASSETER. Along with her husband, Cumbee Olen HATLEY, they are buried in the Downing Cemetery, Downing, Comanche Co. TX. Cumbee Hatley and the Beaty family all came from Alabama. Anna Pearl's siblings were Luna Alvarah, Elizabeth Luetta, James Henry, Eliza Eudorah, Albert marvin, Minnie Gertrude, Houston Lomax, Cleopatra Penelope, John William, and Icie Ardalia. I am particularly interested in any information about Anna Pearl and any other hatley connections. Let me know if any of these names ring a bell.

Hi,

Richard Edward Beaty was my grandfather's uncle, so I have alot of data on the family. It is listed in my tree which is public, but let me know if you want me to get it to you another way.

To get you started:

his parents were Francis Marion Beaty and Sarah Feagans (Figgins)

His grandfather was John Adams Beaty. This whole line is remotely linked to Warren Beaty and Shirley MacLaine the actors.

I have most of Richard Beatys books, including "The Nightmare" which was a little more bizarre than the others.

Hope this helps!
-Greg Priebe

Catherine/Katherine Beaty/Batey

I am looking for additional information on Catherine/ Catherine. I believe she was born in TN in abt 1861, but know nothing about parents or where. She is in 1870 census living with James and Catherine McCraw. I believe that she is grandmother of younger Catherine; there are also 2 other children living with the McCraw who have surname Young, both of age to be brothers to younger Catherine, or youngest children of oldest Catherine.

Catherine/Katherine married R D Cathey in 1877 in Mcnairy and moved by 1880 to Ellis, TX.

Only other Beaty in Mcnairy in 1870 who is not 'attached' to a family is Robert Beaty who is living with family Gibson as farmhand. It is possible he is a brother to her or to her father. I have acertained the other Beaty family living in that county is not close family...maybe sibling of Catherine/Katherine's father. But I can not get back far enough to acertain that possibility.

Are there any resources in that county that whould give me more info on her, like birth records, church records, state census info, death records, all in 1860-1880 time frame that would give me more information on her or her family? I've not yet located anything online beyond Ancestry's resources.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thank you very much for the information. I had Richard Beaty in my tree but I did not know he was the Richard Edward Beaty I was looking for.

I would like to check your tree, can you advise its name and where I can find it.

One of my great grandmothers was Lucina Beaty born Oct. 18, 1865 in Warren County, VA. She married Benjamin F. Clatterbuck, they had eight children and the family moved to Maryland after 1900.

I have done a lot of research on the Beaty family in Warren County and I would be glad to share anything I have.

There is a group of Beatys in South Carolina that starts with a James Beaty 1758-1835. Do you know if they are connected to our Beaty group?

You can contact me directly at ridgerunner@chesapeake.net

Ronald Collins

HI Kutpi007, You don't just have a family tree, you have cousins all over the map. Your great uncle Benjamin Pelegri lives in Georgia, You have 3rd and 4th cousins here in California, 3rd cousins in NY and Utah, 4th cousins in VA, ID, Ca and CO. you even have 5th cousins. I met Annette and one of her sisters back around 1957 in NY but never saw her again after that. I think they may have moved to Ohio after that visit. You had one other great uncle named Rafael(Rachelle's brother) but he had parkinson's disease and died from a fall last year. anyone, my email is jlmrn3@aol.com I would love to hear from you or any of the family. Take care and God bless, Joyce Santiago-Maloy
