From what I know, he lived in Barre VT since the 1930s, but I cannot find his obituary or previous censuses (since I don't know his country of birth). Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Nancy,
My name is Carolyn (Beaudoin) Ratliff. My father's name is Steven Beaudoin, your mother's brother. I only met my Aunts Zenobia and Jeanette while I was living in Texas. Briefly, I had an opportunity to meet my grandmother, Caline, before she died in the fire. I meet other realtives in Louisiana while attending her services, but can't recall names. My mother, Ernestine Manning Wells, speaks alot of my father's sisters. The only possession that I have of my grandmother is a tape recording that she made before she passed. I would love to learn more about my father's family history.
Be Blessed,
Carolyn

I am looking for anyone who could possibly help me sort out Beaudoin family information. I am looking for Antoine Beaudoin and his family. He was born about 1837 the records are hard to descipher. I do know he had two daughters from his first Marriage Alice Beaudoin Harvey and Julienne Beaudoin Martin. From what I am assuming is his church burial record he passed away in 1915. Present at his funeral were Francis, William, Peter, and John Beaudoin. He is buried in Summerstown Station Ontario(Williamstown). He did remarry Catherine LaMadeline. Lived in Northern NY for a time Possibly the Fort Covington Massena area. Any help would be great.

This might be the father of the Roger Beaudoin you're looking for.

Copy and paste the following link and see if any of the names strike you as familiar: http://trees.ancestry.com/owt/person.aspx?pid=97907214

Researching info on Richard Beaudoin, Bronx NY

Hello,
I'm looking for any information on my Grandfather, Richard Beaudoin. The info I have is very slim, at best.
He was born, possibly around 1907, in Golf Juan France and immigrated to New York with his mother. I don't know the year of immigration, but he was a child at the time. Supposedly, the family owned a restaurant in Golf Juan, on top of a hill. They settled in the Bronx where he married Katherine Powers in approx. 1931. His occupation was musician (drummer?) and drove taxi. He supposedly died somewhere between 1935 to 1937. I have three different stories on how he died. First, he was struck by a bus or truck while crossing the street. Second, he was in an automobile accident. Third, he was shot while driving taxi. I have been told he is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, but the person I spoke with at the cemetery couldn't find any one with the details I provided. I haven't contacted any other cemeteries, since I don't have a month and year of death. I searched the Municipal Archives in Manhattan for a death certificate and have not found one. I also searched for a marriage certificate and could not find one, although they may have been married in a Catholic church and the marriage wasn't reported to the city. The only document I have with his name is my father's birth certificate.
The info above is all I have to go on, but I question the accuracy of some/all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ed Beaudoin

I too was born Beaudoin. My family tree extended from Connecticut, from Montral area of Canada, from France bordering Germany--The last name would change back and forth from Beaudoin to Boardmann to protect properties where Fance borders Alsace-Lorraine near Stroudsburg, Germany sometime around the early to mid 1700's, in feudal times. I know little beyond that, except having toured that area, found it to be beautiful farm lands.
My name is Lorraine M. Gelinas-I live in Corpus Christi, Tx. I have only found seven children of this couple: David Tellespore (Tellas) who married Ida, Joseph Henry who married Josie and later Marie, the twins- Joseph (married Marie Della) and Oliver (married Rebecca), Elizar (married Edward), Napolean (married Margaret), and Harriet (married Maxime). Also, Angelique did have a daughter named Veronica with Basil Jollie before she married Joseph David Farley. I did not find any other children's names in the 1860, 1870, or 1880 census records. What names do you have for the other children?
Sandy

Hi Ellen,
I have information that I have gathered over the years about this family.

Francois Beaudoin b. May 4, 1756 in Montreal, Quebec and died in Feb. 1850 was married to Catherine Gouvreau. She was indian. They had Joseph, b. 1783, Catherine Theotis, b. Nov. 17, 1805, Augustine, b. 1791, Pierre, b. Sept. 19. 1818, and Jean Baptiste, b. 1819.

Don Pressor has Francois born in 1783. May have been 1759. He was in the 1820 census in Mackinac Island with three sons listed younger than 10. He also shows up in the Brown County, Wisconsin Census in 1830 and 1840. His wife was listed as Catherine. He died at 67 in Feb. 1850 His wife's last named was passed on by a different source as Gaurvreau. Don was able to find a Francois Beaudion born in 1791 and a Catherine Gauvreau born in 1791 in Canada. We are wondering if this is Joseph's father or if was Francois really a brother of Joseph????

Name: Francois BEAUDOIN
Year of Record: 1825
Source/Event: 1825 Census of Montreal
Comments: living in Montreal County - City of Montreal
Reference: National Archives of Canada, Microfilm Reel # C-718, pages 2081-2100

Joseph Beaudoin was a half breed according to Carl Zapfee, who has done extensive research on the Lake Leech area Indians. In 1820 census he was listed as Joseph Bodwin with possible relative Alexis. In the 1836 Mixed Blood List there was an Alexis (7) and Therese (14) Bodwine who's father was dead and mother was Lissette. They each recieved $95.14 settlement. In the 1850 Mackinaew County MI Census Joseph is listed as 68 and a fisherman (born in Canada). They were family #289 and lived in dwelling #282. He had a wife, Angelique that was 52 (born in WI) and 2 children still living at home- Joseph age 24 years (born in WI) and Hyacinth age 11(bore in in MI). 1860 census listed as Joseph Bodwin born in Canada, (77) in Mackinac Co. Angelique was 56 and born in MN, son Joseph was 24 and born in MN, son Hyacinthe 21 born in Michigan. Joseph was listed as a fisherman. In 1870 census says Angelique was born in Dakota Territory, lived in St. Ignace, Mackinac Co., MI. Joseph was 37, a laborer and born in Dekota as well. Joseph was 88, worked as a farm laborer, born in Canada and worth $100. 7 year old Lizabelle Chemir, born in Michigan was living with them.

According to Grace Stern, the great great grand daughter of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth LeCuyer and the Manistique Pioneer Tribune in 1996, in the early 1800's the Beaudoins lived in the Leech Lake area of Minnesota and were involved in the fur trade- the American Fur Trade Company. John Drew, a prominent and well traveled man of these parts traveled throughout upper Michigan and northern Wisconsin and Minnesota as far as Missouri in the interests of fur trading companies. He had a daughter with a part Chippewa and part French woman and named the daughter Mary Elizabeth Drew. Elizabeth recalled that her mother died when she was young and she was rasied by the Joseph Beaudoin family in Leech Lake between the years 1810- 1824. Elizabeth's mother and Angleique Beaduoin may have been related. These indians were called "The Rice Gatherers of the Great Lakes". They originally came from Mackinac area, driven out by the Iroquois tribes of Central New York. When Elizabeth was 12- 14 she married Joseph LeCuyer (Laquea). They lived in Leech Lake for years, then moved to the Beaver Islands in Michigan in the 1830's. In the 1857 she moved from Rock Island to Sac Harbor, Garden Pennisula after her husband died to live with some of her children. It is possible that the LeCuyers were following the Beaudoin family to Mackinac, Michigan. The Beaudoins moved there permanently by 1850.

According to the March 28, 1836 Mixed Blood List Angelique Boudwine was 38, 1/2 Chippewa and had six children that were quarter Chippewas that also recieved payment. They were Joseph age 12, Isabella age 11, Mary age 9, Margaritta age 7, Catherine age 8 months, and Angelique age 18 and currently maried to Basil Jelle. Therefore, I am not sure that Angelique Nangual, also listed on the Mixed Blood list, is connected to the family.

Sandy
