Hello---

I am seeking information on a Simonds or Hill familiy possibly related to the Beaulieu family in or near the Read Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota. In the census of 1930 in this area, a Davie Lond is listed as head of household with grandson and family named Beanlien living with him. I suspect this is a mis-spelling of Beaulieu.

Any information appreciated.

Thanks in advance---

Donna

Bryan,
Your post was so long ago so hopefully you will see this. I too am a descendent of Louis and Margaret Beaulieu, their son Francis 'Frank' Beaulieu is my great grandfather. However, the spellings I have are different from yours, Louis instead of Lewis and my Margaret is Margaret Farebeare, born about 1814 in Paris, France and Louis of course born in Canada. I have not been able to find the death dates for Louis or Margaret but know they lived in Iowa. Louis may have died in South Dakota but I can't confirm that.

Any additional information you may have on them would be great. In my extensive family tree, these are the two people I am still doing research on.

Elaine

Cedulia Julia Beaulieu married Joseph John Bebeau in Mass of Aug 2 1885. The marriage cert spelled Bebeau as Bibaud. Joseph was the son of Joseph and Mathilda Bebeau. They had fourteen children. Two of them died before a year old. One on the children, Edgar Augusta Bebeau was my grandfather. I have done a lot of work on the Bebeaus. My family tree is called the Heberle Family Tree. My mother was Jeanette Bebeau and my father was Robert John Heberle. Cedulia died in San Diego, 1916 and was buried in Calvary cemetery. you can find her grave site information on Find a Grave.com. I would like some more information about Levi. I have his date of birth no death. I do not know about Cedulia's siblings.

I was told he had a half brother named Fred Musha. They were both members of the Chippewa Indian Tribe, Red Lake, Minnesota. My father LeRoy was born in 1928 in Bemidji, Minnesota. Grampa Simon's last know residence might be in Independence, Missouri. I am working our our family genealogy and have pictures of them but no other records. Does anyone have any other information that might help me?

Hello,

I have just begun researching the Richard, Beaulieu, Pretaboire and Boucher families of New Bedford, Fall River, N. Attleboro, Seekonk and Taunton.

My Father in Law is Alderic Guillaume Richard, born 5/19/1914 in, I believe, Fall River. His brother was Edmond and they were born to Amedee (son of Jean Baptiste Richard and Zenaide Boucher) and Marie Elise Beaulieu (daughter of Napoleon Richard and Georgina Pretaboire).

Marie Elise Beaulieu (went by Elisa, and for whom our youngest daughter Eliza was named) was born on 27 Oct 1884 at Sacred Heart, New Bedford.

Within the past week I found that Elisa had a sister named Eva Beaulieu who was adopted by Napoleon (also found to be Napolean Beaulieu) and Georgina (also found to be Georgianna Pretaboire), though I don't know when or who her natural parents were. Eva was married and moved to Bonfield, ontario and I am getting ready to contact her family descendants this week.

In speaking with Alderic a few days ago, he remembered that he went with Amedee and Elisa to Ontario to visit Eva some time in the 1920's and also visited relatives in Napierville, Quebec - about 20 miles south of Montreal.

Pepe (what we call Alderic) also remembered that one of the family members that he visited in Napierville, ran the town and one was a doctor.

Last Friday (11/2/07) I contacted someone I thought may be related and I was right. She verfied a great deal of information, including the Beaulieu who ran the town and the doctor, though with my limited French and a lot of background noise on my end, we decided to speak again later this week in order to get the exact information.

What I also found out from Pepe was that he said that Eliza and her brother Leon had a number of siblings that were distributed around to various family members to raise because their parents (Napoleon Beaulieu and Georgina Pretaboire) died when they were young. This was the first I heard this information.

He didn't know how Elisa and Leon were kept together, but when Leon Beaulieu's wife Marie Louise Beaulieu - daughter of (strangely enough) Pierre Beaulieu and Marie Rouleau, died in a house fire in 1909, he was left with two young children: Adrian and Yvonne, and went to live with Amedee Richard and Elisa (Beaulieu) Richard.

Pepe remembers growing up with Adrian and Yvonne and remained close to them throughout the years.

He does not know any of the names of Elisa (Elise)or Leon's siblings nor where they ended up. He would love to know what happened to some of them but said he never knew where they went or their names.

If you have any connections or information regarding this family line, please feel free to contact me: capcodjune@comcast.net.

June Richard

I also have a Picard (Beatrice Picard) that married Oliv(i)er Beaulieu, they may have been cousins. Beatrice was one of 15 brothers and sisters, her mom was Leontine Pinard and her Dad, Francois Picard, brother and sisers, Albert Napoleon, Emil Wilfred, Rita Marie, Roger Robert, Marcel Henri, Dorothy Florence, Lucia Celilia, Laurette Letotide, Arthur Frank, Cecile Germaine, Beatrice Irona (my Beatrice) Lucien Joseph, Helen Alexandrine, Jeanne Gertrude and Alfred Robert. Of course not all lived very long, but they were in Lewiston Maine. And I am actually looking for any information on Oliver Beaulieu, his father, where he came from his mother, anything, there is absolutely nothing. So I hope this info is helpful to you and maybe you know something I don't. pls reply to Harper219@juno.com...thanks and have a blessed day!

On second thought, and after reading these posts over, several times, I think I need to study this a little further. Sorry about that, but perhaps there are clues in this correspondence after all. We shall see! I'll let you know what I find out.
AJennieJane@aol.com

for Vicki and Elaine,
In the 1880 census for Fort Fairfield, Frank Bolieu and Hattie Bolieu, etc. . . .
The name was definitely BEAULIEU, but just to be clear, they were NOT Hudon. (Different family)
It is a difficult name to hear correctly, never mind write it down and spell it right, too!! It has been spelled and pronounced every which way anyone can think of!
Incidently, the name was changed to BEAULIEU in the United States! Not sure exactly how it then became Bolieu.
AJennieJane@aol.com

Re: Surname Change?

Dear Susanne,

Yes, there was a name change to Beaulieu when members of this family came to the United States - Maine to be precise. There are Beaulieus who are NOT related to HUDON in any way. I think this causes a lot of confusion and frustration! The name it was changed from resembles neither BEAULIEU nor HUDON.
It is completely different. Thivierge. Unfortunately, those searching for this particular BEAULIEU family in Canada are always looking directly at their brick wall!
There are probably other Beaulieu families in Canada, but with this particular family, it became Beaulieu ONLY in the 1800's when Georges entered the States, followed by his brother.
Please email me if you still need information. I know you posted quite a while ago, and may have already found needed info.
AJennieJane@aol.com
