Mr. Beazley Killed.

ASHLAND, VA., April 23.-Burwell Beazley, aged fifty-five, who lived at Taylorsville, was killed last night between there and Doswell by a Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac freight train. He had been on a spree for a week or more and while returning to his home, it is thought he staggered in front of the train, which caused his instant death.

The engineer saw him and did all in his power to save the unfortunate man. Mr. Beazley was well connected, having first married into a prominent Richmond family, and his second wife being from an excellent family in Louisa.

Thank you very much for posting your March 31 message. I believe the Martha V. Beazley headstone in the family burial plot on your property is that of the sister of my grandfather, William Nelson Phipps2. She would be the only daughter of William Nelson Phipps1 who lived in the Churchton-Deale area.

William N. #1 died in 1922 and was buried at the "Randall" cemetery according to the death certificate - have not found this yet - was told that a developer bulldozed the burial site which is now part of a property called "Nirvana" somewhere Churchton.

The "Fola" Phipps on the census is actually Iola Phipps, the older sister of my mother Elizabeth/Lizzie Phipps Asquith.

I would be interested in knowing whether your burial site is in the Churchton-Deale-Broadwater area, etc. Thank you.

Natasha - my HARDIMANs are from Kidderminster, England. Hannah Hardiman b1820 married 1840 in Kidderminster Richard Oliver LLOYD also b1820 in Kidderminster. They migrated to Melbourne, Victoria in 1853 with their children. This doesn't seem to be of help to you.
Most of my HARDIMAN information came from Ed Hardiman who hosts the "Hardiman Genealogy Page" at

He served in for the Confederacy 30th VA Reg. I do not know how he connects to my family, but is buried close to my ggrandfather James P Beazley (his birth record lists David as his father). Any help will be appreciated.

William Thomas Beazley of Fannin County, Texas,according to his death certificate,was born in Kentucky, the son of John Beasley and Bell Craft(maiden name) 1-25-1877, and died in Fannin Co. March 12, 1955. I think William Thomas had brothers who used the spelling with a s instead of a z and the death certificate shows John with a s William with a Z. They were in Clinton Co, KY very close to the TN line. Moved to TX due to proposed flooding of the area to build Dale Hollow Lake.

Looking for records relating to Laban who was born in about 1798. He was married to Sidney Campbell in 1831 according to the marriage records. One of the records either census or marriage said he was out of North Carolina, another said Virginia. Many Beazleys originally came from Virginia. Laban settled in Nashville, TN. He and Sidney were one of the early settlers in Nashville. I have tried several avenues but no luck. Any help would be terrific.

Ruth BEAZLEY COLE MACRERY 5 years after him. Probably in Sun Valley.

Ruths parents divorced and Ruths mother, in 1930 "Cora BEAZLEY" (d.1946) was in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles Co., CA working as a servant for a Jack MINTZ family, he was assistant director in the picture industry. Jack MINTZ b. 15 February 1895, Massachusetts, USA d. 19 January 1983, Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA. Jack was dialogue coach or Asst. to the Producer on many Jerry Lewis and Elvis Presley movies worked on several other movies including The wizard of OZ.
First wife Rose (GLASS?)b. abt 1901, second wife MILDRED (FRIEDMAN) MINTZ b. 02/17/1904 OHIO mother TOEFFLER d. at age 89, 02/17/1993 LOS ANGELES

While Ruths father Owen, was probably still in Tucson, AZ. Cora's children likely didn't make the 1930 census or the names are misspelled.

I wonder if Ruth had any children of her own?

Wallace did live in Sun Valley when he died. So this might narrow down the search for their graves to about 2 cemeteries. They are probably buried (I am guessing) in Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood or Verdugo in Sunland.

James Beaz(s)ley born 1790-1800 maybe in SC, maybe VA & family along with G.W. Beaz(s)ley born abt. 1815 and wife came to St. Francis County, AR from Alabama abt. 1838.
James appears to have removed from SC to Ala. about 1826.
James's offspring were George Washington (my gggrandfather), 1825 SC; Marshall 1827 Ala; James L. 1830 Ala; Andrew J. 1834 Ala; Lemuel W. 1838 Ala. James's wife's name possibly Neely or Goodloe. There is a Rachel Gilbert 1807 SC and daughter, Eveline 1827 SC, somewhere in the mix. George Washington's offspring were Williamson Clive, Florine, Jessee L., James Edmund, Martha Susan, Rosa Goodloe, George W., Maggie Neely. Thank you for any lead.

Looking for information on John Killingsworth (circa 1800-1845) and his wife Elizabeth Beazley (Beasley) who lived in Tennessee. Elizabeth was perhaps from Virginia but do not know her parents names or birthplace for certain. They had children Elizabeth Killingsworth Attlesey (1825), Mary Killingsworth Blount (1830), John (1833), James (1835), Adeline (1839) and Matilda (1842) who moved to Carroll or Leflore County in Mississippi after their parents death about 1845. Family information places them in Lebanon, Tennessee, but no records can be found.

Does anybody know anything of the ancestors and descendants of John Beazeley? John was born in Leicester, England c.1811 and died in Leicester 1879. He married, again in Leicester but at an unknown date, Ann Spencer (b. Leicester c.1811, d. Leicester 1885). The only child I know of was Ann Goodiss Beazeley (b. 1838, d.1919) who married William Harrison. The surname was, occasionally, spelt Beazley. Anybody who knows anything of John's and Ann's (Spencer) ancestors or any other descendants they had please contact me at neil.mclean5@googlemail.com

While searching my family tree i came across John Beazeley born 1811 in Leicester.He married Ann Spencer in Leicester on 21st June 1835 at Saint Mary church. My Grandma had the maiden name Beazeley, she was born in 1885 in Leicester her Fathers name was Joseph Beazeley b1860

Hi--I grew up on Broadwater Creek Rd, and about halfway between the beginning of that road at Broadwater Rd. and the end of the road at the water, which was my house, was a farm owned by the MacWilliamses which had a sign on one of the brick pillars marking the entrance to the property that said "Nirvana." Perhaps this is the "Nirvana" property you are looking for? I haven't been back in about 10 years or so.

I was just perusing this board because I am aware of another cemetary semi-hidden in the forest closer to Deale Beach, and wanted to see if there were any inqueries. I do not recall seeing a Beazley there, though. Feel free to e-mail me if I can be of help.

Beazley/Beasley of Caroline/Richmond/Alexandria VA

Trying to research Theodore Beasley/Beazley who married Fanny Claytor. Their daughter Frances Beazley b 1840 Caroline Co VA married Cornelius Wells a shoemaker of Alexandria VA . Her death cert states that both parents were from Richmond VA. I have found a deed between the Beazley and Claytor families in Caroline CO in which Frances is left land "inherited by her late father Theodore Beazeley". Any and all help is of course welcome and appreciate as I have been unable to locate Theodore and Fanny in any census record.

I have a Mamie Beazley my date is May 30, 1882 Jefferson County, Florida. Her parents were Cornelius Beazley (1845) and Sophrenia Brittle. Cornelius parents were William Beazley(1809 VA) and Martha Atkinson. Wm. Beazley was son of Cornelius (born 1784 in Westmoreland County, VA ) and Jane Rust. I have found their graves in Lamont, FL. I have been searching for this Cornelius parents but not sure who they were. Does this sound familiar to you?

I have a Mamie Beazley born May 30, 1882 in Jefferson County, Florida. Not sure where I got the May 30. She was the daughter of Cornelius Beazley and Sophrenia Brittle they married February 12, 1878. Cornelius was born June 6, 1845 and was the son of William Beazley (b: 1809 Westmoreland County, VA) and Martha Atkinson. William Beazley was the son of Cornelius Beazley and Jane Rust. Cornelius was born March 16, 1784 in Westmoreland County, VA. He died in Jefferson County, Florida April 2, 1859. Does this sound like it could be your Mamie? Hope this has helped. Betty
