Edward Bebout born around 1856 married to Susan E

I am stuck. Anyone who has any info to help would be appreciated. My grandfather was George Lovell Bebout, his father was George William Bebout and his fater was Edward Bebout married to a Susan E. (can't find maiden name). They also had one other son E. Rhea Bebout. I cannot find anything on E. Rhea after 1910 so wondering if he might have died. There is a big gap in age between siblings. It says in the census (which by the way I have found many errors in the census) that Edward's father would have been born in Pennsylvania. Edward in Ohio, both Georges in West Virginia I believe. My grandfather George had a brother Millard and a sister Viola and as sister Louise.

Thanks,

Kathy

Leslie Barrance Beabout was the brother of my Great-grandmother Anna Beabout who married William Hughes. I have an old 'Remembrance Book' of when Anna died. It is handwritten by my grandmother. In it she states that Mary C's last name was Murtaugh.

Who were the parents of William R. Bebout?

According to census records (which are consistent), he was born March 1836 in Pennsylvania, father born in Pennsylvania, mother born in New Jersey.

His wife, Julia A. (Maiden Name Unknown) was born Jan 1842 in Ohio, father born Pennsylvania, mother born on the high seas while the family was coming from Germany.

Apparently they had no children, but raised a foster son from infancy. The foster son had a child named Carroll, born about 1896 in Missouri. The family lived for several decades in Missouri, Sullivan County.

I am part of the Beebout family of Pittsburgh, PA; My ancestors were from the Ohio area, namely David William Beebout. It seems somehow/somewhere the name had been chaned from Bebout to Beebout.
I am doing some geneology research and would like to know anything you know of this family in and around Ohio and Pittsburgh. I had an Uncle Cambell Beebout who worked on the River (assume the Ohio) as a steamboat captain; don't know where he had been located; don't think he married or had children, but I do NOT know of any brothers/sisters of David william Beebout..would like to know that. David had gone to a University in Ohio; had an Electric Engineering degree. write Maykok@aol.com with any info you may have. thaks.
From what I can figure out Charles Welch Bebout was William Bebouts nephew by his sister. The 1920 census has many mistakes in just that listing alone. Charles was married to Della not Bella. Last child is Carl. Carl I believe is Charles child from a first marriage but the age is all wrong.

May I ask with of Sadie's children you are related to? We live in the same town as John Freerksen and his family. My Mother in law is still living but refuses to talk about her family. I have always been told that her father was shot when she was a baby. I always assumed he died but the records indicate he died in 1922 not 1917/18.

My husband's grandmother is Sadie Bebout Freerksen. I am having some trouble with Charles Welch Bebout too. But in the 1870 census, he is a one year old living with William and Julia in Penn, Sullivan, Missouri. In the 1880 census, he is recorded as being their foster son.
Charles shows up in the 1920 census with a wife named Bella and children jessie, Clarence, Sadie, Hazel, George Myrtle and Lavel.

Have you found any more information about this?
Hi Brandy,

First let me say I am very sorry for your loss.
I didn't know your father. I post obits to this site when I have time with the permission of a few papers around the country. I do this because I believe everyone deserves to be remembered and also to help with research for upcoming generations trying to build family trees.

Thank you for writing me.

smokeyandjo =';'=

Rachel Harter was born 6/2/1838 and died Aug 29, 1906 per her tombstone from the Middlebourne, W. Va Cemetery that I saw in 1985. It appears she never married. She was living with Henry A. and Catherine Rymer on the 1860 census.

I also found her will in Tyler Co. but did not copy it as it was her sister who was my ancestor.

Catherine Matilda Harter Rymer was born in Washington Co, Pa per her death record in Tyler Co., W. Va. The History of Tyler County (W.Va.)lists Catherine Matilda, the wife of Henry A. Rymer, as being "the daughter of George and Sarah (Beebout) Harter, and she was born in Washington, Washington County Pennsylvania, March 6, 1827".

I don't know if this is the same Sarah and George. There were many Beebouts (Bebouts) in Pa.

My ancestors, Sarah Bebout and George Harter, had a daughter Catherine M. Harter, who married Dr. Henry Rymer in 1898.

Catherine M. Harter was born in Washington County, PA on 6 Mar 1827.

George Harter was born about 1790, Sarah Beebout, about 1794.

I believe Sarah Beebout's parents were Moses Bebout and Isabel Nemons. Both died in Canton, PA.

Sarah Bebout Harter

The 1850 census for Marion Co., VA(West) list a George [born about 1782] Harter married to a Sarah who may have been Sarah Bebout [born about 1793]. That census lists children Ellen, William, Charles and Rachel. My ancestor William Morgen Harter [born 1830 in Pa.] may have been one of these children. Can anybody confirm this family? If so, does anybody have info on the Harter and Bebout ancestors of the couple?

Thank You for responding.
George and Sarah are listed in Robert D. Harter's book as being descended from (Johann) Jacob Harter [1760] (and Mary Magdalin) and Johann George Harter [bef 1733] and Eva Bracker.
I have listed as children of George and Sarah the following:
Ellen (?), William Morgen (1830), Charles Phillip (1835), Rachel (?), Moses B. (1815-1818), George B. (abt. 1820) and Mary Ann (1824). Do you show these in addition to your Catherine M. Harter (1827)?
I show George's birth date as 12 Jun 1783 and Sarah's as 19 Dec. 1793. Both probably born in Washington Co., Pa. {Robert Harter indicates George born Washington Co., Md.}
I show both George (Bet. 27 Aug 1861 - 1862) and Sarah (10 Oct 1855) died in Harrison Co., VA/WV.
I show George had a 2nd wife = Elizabeth Bailey Criss born 1816 in Lewis Co., VA. Married 25 Dec 1855 in Harrison Co., VA/WV.
Mary Jane Sumpter Bebeout in Illinois Article

Looking for Family fo George Bebout.

104 B-Day Celebration: Newspaper article from Bloomington- Norma, IL dated Sunday, August 26, 1973. She's a happy, alert 104, but 'wearing out'.
"I'm just a little ol' lady wearing out," says Mrs. Jane Bebout, who is celebrating her 104th birthday Monday. She questions nurses giving her medication with "I'm not sick, why are you giving me medicine?" She does have a heart condition and has failing eyesight. But otherwise nurses at Maple Grove Nursing Home, where she resides, describe her as alert and in good health for her age. She's up daily, feed herself and walks with help, says Roy Nordine, a incensed practical nurse at the home. She enjoys visiting with Other residents had ministers. She attends parties at the home in her wheelchair and also church services there. Zonta Club members are scheduled to bring a cake and Leticia Green is a member will be honoring her Monday.
